Scene 68 – I’m not your father
Clara was by the window waiting for her son to come home when she saw lights outside, she ran out and waited as the cars drove by, as soon as the next car stopped in front of her lawn, the door opened and Kieran ran toward her.
She kneeled down, opening her arms wide for her son, she enveloped her son, “Oh my sweet little child.” She cried, she held him tight then pulled him away to check if he was hurt, “Are you okay? Did they hurt you, Kieran?”
Kieran sniffed and shook his head, “I was so scared mommy.”
“I know baby. I was too.” She said, pulling him back to her arms, “You’re alright now. You’re here with mommy.” She soothed, she looked up, her eyes searched for two men, and she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Alex but then her heartbeat picked up when her eyes couldn’t find Ralphe. “Where’s Uncle Ralphe?” she asked Kieran.
Kieran sniffed, brushed his eyes, “He said he’d go bring the twins back home.” She exhaled, oh god, she thought something happened to him. “Mommy, Uncle Ralphe saved me!”
She smiled, “Did he now?”
He nodded, “He did.” He yawned, “Mommy, I’m sleepy.”
“Okay, let’s get you to bed.”
He shook his head, “Sleep with me?”
That was the plan, as if she would let him out of her sight. She kissed him on his forehead, “Of course, always.”
So they went up to her room, she helped him bathe, put on his jammies and tucked him in her bed with her. Kieran’s eyes closed the moment she kissed the top of his head. She looked at Aiden who was on the other side and Kieran was in between them.
She smiled at him, “He’s back.”
“He’s a brave boy.”
“Just like you.” she told him, “I was so worried, Aid. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to him.”
Aiden reached for her hand and smiled, “Nothing happened. He’s back.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
And she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Ralphe made a decision. It wasn’t an easy decision but it was the only decision he had to make. He couldn’t be back from the old Ralphe that when a hardship came in his way, he’d go and be numb.
