Scene 27 – Choose him over you one day

“And that’s it.” Clara finished, her hands tightening on the wheels, her eyes on the road waiting for Ian to speak.

“What are you so afraid of Clara?” his question made her hit break and pull over, she turned her head toward him, “What is it, Clara?”

 

“Everything, Ian.” She answered him, “I’m so afraid that one day, Aiden will wake up and realize that he doesn’t want to be with me anymore. I’m afraid that one day Kieran will find out the truth and he’d hate me. I’m so afraid that one day this family I built and loved would just be taken from me.”

Ayun naman talaga ang rason kung bakit siya sobrang nasaktan nung hindi umuwi si Aiden at gabi na ito umuwi kahit pa nangako ito na uuwi siya para makipag bonding sa kanila. At kagabi, na-realize ni Clara kung gaano parin siya ka dependent kay Aiden. At kung gaano niya ito kamahal. Naisip niya, paano kung pinapatunguhan nalang siya ni Aiden para sa mga bata?

Naisip niya paano kung hindi na gusto ni Aiden yung buhay kasama siya kaya masyado na siyang busy sa trabaho? She often wondered why, why did Aiden marry her in the first place? She knew he had that messiah complex so what if he didn’t really love her and was just trying to save her and Kieran?

That hurt. So much. Kasi sobrang mahal niya si Aiden. At yung isipin na baka kaya hindi pa siya iniiwan ni Aiden ay dahil lang sa mga bata. That he felt trapped, it ached her. Their marriage wasn’t supposed to be that way, she wasn’t supposed to feel scared that he’d leave. And she shouldn’t be so dependent on him.

She felt Ian’s hand on her thigh, “It won’t, Clara. Hindi ka iiwan ni Aiden at hindi din mawawala sayo ang pamilya mo. And I can assure you, I won’t let Kieran know about the truth of his birth. Hinding hindi niya malalaman na hindi si Aiden ang ama niya.”

“But you can’t control it, Ian. Aiden… he’s one day going to run for presidency and his enemies will dig up our past and they’d know… politics is a cruel world and they won’t stop at nothing.”

Kahit pa sabihin na si Aiden ang nakasulat sa birth certificate ni Kieran, kunting imbestiga lang ay malalaman’t malalaman din ang katotohanan. That it all didn’t add up.

“You forget who you’re talking with, Clara.” Ian said cockily. “Everything will be fine. No one will ever use Kieran as a pawn.”

“Pero hindi lang naman yan hindi eh. Paano pag nalaman niya?”

“Is that why you don’t want to go back to the Philippines? Even for a vacation? Kasi natatakot ka?”

“Sympre. Hindi naman mawawala yung takot. Alam kong nasa space parin siya pero babalik at babalik parin siya at nakakatakot isipin na baka malaman niya.”

“So what if he finds out? He didn’t want Kieran then, he’d probably ignore and continue with his life.”
