Malory's POV
"Then I guess we'll just let her take care of them."
The veins in my face continue pushing their way to the surface of my skin until eventually they start to pop. I feel them, one by one.
We always end up here, don't we dad?
"I suggest you start praying that they don't harm Nagini." My father spits while dropping me onto the floor below him.
Coughs exit through my mouth uncontrollably as I try to process his words.
"Why?" I ask. "Are you going to kill me if they do?"
His angry expression changes to a look of surprise. "You still don't know, do you?"
When I don't respond, he chuckles lightly under his breath. After staring down at me for what feels like a century, he leaves the library. I want to follow behind him but I can't ignore the fear inside me.
"Know what?" I say as the door is slamming behind him.
Of course there's no response, but the silence fills me with rage.
"What don't I know?!" I shout.
Tears fill my eyes but when I try to sob, the pain in my throat makes it hard to swallow. So once again, I'm suffocating.
And just when I think it's going to stop, the pain grows ten times worse. Only now it's not just a pain around my neck, it's filling my entire body.
Loud screaming in my head, images of evil filling my mind. It feels as if someone has stabbed me directly in the stomach and they're trying to find the spot that hurts the most.
I want to get up from the floor but the ringing in my ears makes it impossible to concentrate.
Did I hit my head and I don't remember?
Why do I feel like this?
"Come on, Mal. Get up." I snap at myself.
The pain doesn't stop but I manage to pull myself onto my feet using one of the nearest chairs. At first glance, the library doesn't look the same. It's distorted, dark. Where the books used to stand, there's now small houses side by side.
"What happens if they find another one?" Someone says in my head, frantically.
My hands go over my ears in hopes of stopping the unknown voice, but it continues.
"Don't worry," Another voice whispers. "They can't find this one."
While still staring at the neighborhood in front of me, I listen to the words; that's when the pieces start coming together.
"But are you sure, My Lord?" The nervous voice returns.
Before there's a response, the room starts to fade back to the library once again. And even though the pain in my body is finally gone, something still doesn't feel right.
"Mal?!"
I spin my head in the direction of the door and suddenly, it swings open. Draco, who has spots of blood all over his face, makes instant eye contact with me. I feel relief come over me when I see him until he gives me an upset expression.
"What happened to your face?" He asks.
At first, I'm confused. But when I turn towards the mirror hanging on the wall and see the multiple bruises forming, I remember the previous encounter I just had.
I cover my face with my hair. "Where are the others?"
His eyes start filling with more sadness as he signals to the main room of the manor. I reach my hand out to grab his and after one last look into the library, we start to the exit.
"How did you do it?" I ask Draco.
He chuckles lightly. "Who says we even did it? How did you know-"
"Lucky guess." I sigh.
He pulls me closer to him and begins running his fingertips along the redness in my face. It hurts but I like the comfort too much to tell him to stop.
When we get to the main corridor, the first thing I see is the amount of red covering Blaise and Aary's clothing.
"Alright," I huff. "What the fuck happened out there?"
