The Positive and the Negative

"Alright, I need to go finish that cake alright? You kids have everything under control here?" Alice's mother asks curiously.

It was a few days later, each of the main five rangers had now finished their exams and it was – in fact – the 1st of December. Alice's 18th birthday and with everything that'd been going on lately, a relatively normal birthday party at her house was generally a great idea.

Vera nods confidently, she was up on the couch putting a banner up with the other end being held by Ngadria.

"We'll be ready for when Alice gets here!" she says with a smile.

"Definitely!" Ngadria adds.

Sky is helping Josh with handing out some party poppers while Wolf and Jacob decorated the rest of the loungeroom with streamers. Sky looks around before looking at Josh.

"Is Carter going to be here any time soon?"

"He went out for some more snacks; he'll be here soon I think"

A small ringing sound happened as Josh's morpher goes off, looking around for a minute to make sure Alice's mum wasn't close by he answered.

"Go for Josh"

"Joshua, Alice is only minutes away!" Nira says quickly.

Josh snickers.

"Thanks for keeping an eye on her Lady Nira!" he looks around as he puts his morpher away "Everything looks good. Guys! Alice is coming!"

Wolf smirks.

"Everyone hide, Jacob turn the lights off!"

"Got it!" Jacob rushes to the light switch, flicking it off before hiding behind the couch with Vera and Ngadria.

Wolf ducked behind one of the other chairs and Josh hid behind the loungeroom TV. A few minutes later, they heard the front door opening. Josh peeked just enough to see Alice walking in, still dressed in her netball clothes. She drops her bag on the ground and flicks the lights back on.

Immediately the teens all jump out, shouting:

"Surprise!" Followed by a few party poppers.

Alice shouted in surprise before glaring at Josh.

"Joker, god damn it you guys gave me a heart attack!!"

Josh just snickers running over and pulling her towards the others.

"Heart attacks are worth it for the surprise!"

Alice sighs, rolling her eyes. Wolf chuckles patting her on the shoulder.

"Happy 18th Alice!" He says before looking at Josh and Ngadria "Now we're just waiting on you two and all of us will be 18!"

Jacob clears his throat loudly.

"Excuse me! Born in 2004?? 16?!" He announces loudly.

The others laugh loudly, Vera and Sky shaking their heads in amusement.

"Jacob, with how much you hang out with them most people would assume you're 18" Vera comments.

"I mean, you're pretty well the same height as Josh"

Josh groans.

"I do not need to be told in such a roundabout way that I'm short!"

Jacob broke out into uncontrollable laughter, holding his stomach. Alice rolls her eyes again.

"If you guys don't mind, I want to get out of my netball uniform. Can you give me a few minutes?"

Wolf nods.
