Treacherous? Part 4

Welcome to Episode 30!! ^^ Also, for the first time in AGGESSS I actually wrote up the morphing sequence for a character XD

Josh gulped down the water Adam had offered him, smiling.
"Thanks Adam"

"No problem" the older ranger smiles in response "so, how are you feeling about all this now?"

"...I think I kinda get why Wolf is acting the way he is but...that doesn't change the fact that I can't get him to listen to me"

"I know" Adam replied "but the first step was to understand why your leader is acting the way he is, next step is to remember. You don't need his permission"

"What...?"

Adam smirked a little, before he closed his eyes leaning back a little in his seat.
"Joshua, you want to convince Wolf that Jacob can be saved so that you can try and save him right?"

"Yeah?"

"If Wolf refuses to listen, maybe you need to go against his wishes"

"B-But...he's the leader? Aren't we supposed to...?"

"Not exactly" Adam replied, he chuckled looking Josh directly in the eyes "If they won't listen, you go and you make them sit down and listen. No interruptions. No ifs, ands or buts. Just listening and if they still won't understand well...you do what you think is right"

Josh went silent, he was confused. They were supposed to work together as a team so why was Adam suggesting he go against the team leader? He noticed the understanding smile on the legacy ranger's face.

"Joshua, being a team isn't just about following the leader, sometimes the leader needs to learn when to follow. The red ranger's opinion isn't the only one that matters, the whole team needs their own perspectives to truly give the team a fighting chance against any enemy" he explains "And sometimes, to do what's right, you have to go against the wishes of your team."

"I...don't know if I..."

"Joshua, do you want to save Jacob?"

"Yes!"

"Why do you want to save him?" Adam asks.

"Because, he's my friend! My best friend! He never asked to be dragged into the ranger life, he didn't even get the choice to say no. He was forced into the role of the silver ranger because Serpenta kidnapped him!" Josh responds "He's not responsible for his actions right now, he's not in control...he can't stop himself...he doesn't deserve to be given up on!!"

"So, why is this even a question? I say trust your judgement here" Adam says "It goes against your honour to leave your friend behind. To give up on him. That's a good trait to have, its why you have the Emerald in the first place"

Josh goes quiet again before looking away.
"I don't deserve it..." he mutters.

"What do you mean?"

"...The others...they didn't give up on me when Jealousia used her magic to control me, even after I'd attacked Wolf mercilessly"

"Well, you were in the same situation Jacob's in now, you weren't in control"

"But I was...kind of...Her power wasn't that strong...not like Spellbinder...if she had told me to attack anyone else...I would've resisted but because it was Wolf, this awesome tough new guy who deserves Alice way more than I do...who Alice should logically like way more than me...the red ranger...I didn't. I let her order me around without fighting back"

"I was watching that fight Josh. You fought back" Adam says "heck, I was the one who told Alice about the ranger code. You're an honourable ranger"
