Strength in Numbers Part 1

Josh was fast asleep...until his phone started ringing. He yawned, rolled over and felt about his bedside table for the phone. He squinted in the darkness to see the time, blinking in surprise.

Who the hell is calling me at 4:00am?!

He blinks again and reads the contact...
"Wait...Alice!?" He answers the phone and holds it up to his ear "Hey A, I hope you have a really good reason for calling me this bloody early in the morning"

She giggled.
"Yeah, sorry...I mean, it's good news! I got it a few hours ago but I thought I would wait till morning to tell you all but then I couldn't sleep...so...I thought you wouldn't mind if I called you and gushed?"

Josh chuckled, resting his head on his arm as he laid on his back.
"Well, gush away but..." he yawns "forgive me if I don't give very intelligent responses My Lady"

"You're forgiven Joker" He heard her inhale deeply "So...uhm...I got the call..."

Josh raised an eyebrow, trying to remember why that was important...it was something he'd spoken with Alice about before the whole... 'Jacob' thing happened. But...he just couldn't remember. Eventually he groaned.

"Sorry Alice, I'm extremely stupid right now" he jokes "You're going to have to remind me"

"You know! The call, the one to tell me whether I got into the Ore Beach Netball team?"

Josh made an 'oh' sound and snickered to himself.
"Of course, I remember now. Well...you said it was good news so...?"

"I'm in!" Alice squeals on the other end, he'd never heard her so excited about anything "Obviously, I don't start officially till after Graduation but I'm actually part of our city's netball team now!"

"A, that's fantastic!" Josh replies, "When its uh...not four am, we'll head to the smoothie bar and celebrate! We'll grab the whole team!"

"Yeah! I'm so pumped up!" Alice announces proudly "Sorry, I got you up this early"

"No, no, its fine A. My lady, I would listen to you gush all day!" Josh sighs "...I hope our celebration doesn't get ruined by Scaro and Serpenta..."

"Yeah..." She sounds concerned "You know, I've been thinking...that one fight with Tenebris was nearly impossible...the hits we took...Josh, I don't think you could stand hits like that with the state you're in"

"What are you saying...?" Josh replies "We've had this conversation before, I'm not-"

"I wasn't going to suggest that" Alice chuckles "Jump to conclusions much?"

"Sorry..."

"Its fine. I was going to say that I think we need to find another Jewelite Stone"

"What? Why?" Josh asks "and if I may add to that question: How?"

"Well, the Onyx unlocked syphoning powers and the Rhino Zord. Last I spoke to Nira about it the Zircon will unlock another new zord, ehem, when we can use it. Apparently, its been heavily corrupted by Serpenta's magic"

"So that's why we haven't used it. I was beginning to wonder"

"This is why you need to ask questions Josh" Alice says "She thinks we'll be able to use it soon but..."

"But soon might not be soon enough..."

"Exactly" She then lowers her voice, it was unnecessary but still "Well...I remember Ngadria telling me about some things she, Jacob and Zar were looking at. Old scrolls and stuff related to the Jewelite Warriors...there was one particular gem that was mentioned that – if I remember correctly – could be exactly what we need"
