History as it happens part 2

Serpenta twirls her staff, she smiles watching as the rangers split up and prepare themselves for the task ahead.

"Phira, come have a look."

The woman walks over, looking at the screen.
"It appears that one group is heading straight for us"

Serpenta smiles happily.

"Arsenic!" she calls waiting for the shaky woman to come over "Listen, you and Phira go protect our prisoners"

Arsenic grips her spear, looking nervous and annoyed.
"What about the ones coming for the morphers, Serpenta?"

The sorceress smirks, glancing back at the screen.
"Don't you worry about them, I'll be more than enough to deal with them"

"Fine ....let's go Phira"

"Don't act like you can order me around criminal. You are not my lady" Phira hisses with clear disdain before walking off, ahead of Arsenic and towards the cells. Arsenic growls and follows with her spear dragging across the ground.

Serpenta sits down at her throne, tapping her fingers on the armrest impatiently. The sooner the rangers got here the sooner their pathetic attempt could be thwarted.

Eric stares at the entrance that Jacob pointed out, he looks back at the others.

"Is this safe?" he asks

Jacob glances inside.
"Well, that's the thing. Serpenta didn't spot me and Lilian going through, it's was after we were out in the open. We should be able to sneak in."

Alice nods folding her arms.
"It's our best bet, we have to get in before those coal freaks catch up anyway"

"She has a good point, safe or not it's the only chance we have, going in the front door is well... going to end badly" Trip agrees "so we should go"

"Alright then, if everyone agrees"

Katie and Josh nod in almost perfect unison.
"I mean, come on already! We have some morphers to get back" Josh jokes.

"I agree with him" Katie replies "let's go"

Eric went in first, looking around. To his surprise there was no resistance which screamed trap.

"Guys" Josh comments, peeking around the corner towards what he assumed was Serpenta's chamber "this feels like walking into a trap"

"I agree" Trip replies "we should probably prepare for that"

"Split up again?" Jacob suggests "not completely but maybe only three of us go in at first. The other three can back us up?"

Eric looks thoughtful.
"Could be a good idea" he starts "but at the same time, splitting up could be a really bad idea...it could be exactly what she wants"

Alice sighs, looking towards Serpenta's chambers.
"Well we need to make a decision"

Katie looked thoughtful.
"Honestly, I like Jacob's idea. If three of us head in and are surprised then the other can act as backup."

Josh nods, already pulling his blaster out.
"Besides, the point is to get in, get the morphers then get out right?"

"True, well, who goes in?"

Jacob immediately volunteers, followed swiftly by Josh. Alice chuckles, shaking her head.
"If I leave these two alone it'll become a 'who can show off the most' competition"
