Treacherous? Part 1

"Okay! I gotta go mum!" Jacob yells happily grabbing his school bag.

"What's got you so peppy this morning?" his mother asked in confusion.

Jacob chuckled weakly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well, I've got an assignment to plan at recess, I'm meeting up to play UNO with Josh and Alice at lunch and I have art in between" The silver ranger responds happily "let's just say, it's the perfect storm of good things today!"

His mother smiles.
"Well, as long as you're happy dear" she says happily "Oh, before you go Jacob! Do you mind picking up some things from the store on the way home?"

Jacob nods.
"Sure, what do you need mum?"

"Just some milk, bread and some sugar. But while you're there feel free to pick yourself up a treat. You deserve it" His mother smiled.

Jacob's eyes light up, he runs over and gives his mum a hug.
"Thanks mum! I don't have a clue why I deserve it though"

"Because you've just been such a good person" she says "I mean, you've been helping out around the house and you've been helping out in the community too. Though I wish you'd tell me exactly what it is you've been doing out there"

Jacob winks as he walks to the door.
"Maybe one day Mum, I love you! See you after school!"

"Love you too, Jacob"

Jacob smiles widely and practically skips out the door, going towards the bus stop.

Eve looked around in confusion, it was recess time and Vera, Sky, Jacob and she had agreed to meet up to plan their geology projects together. But there was no sign of Jacob.

Vera folded her arms.
"Where is that guy?" she mumbled annoyed, checking her watch "we've only got fifteen minutes of recess"

Sky looked thoughtful.
"Maybe he's hanging out with Joshua?" he suggested "I know they've gotten to be friends"

Eve frowned.
"Now that I think about it, I don't remember seeing Jacob at all this morning..."

Sky reaches into his pocket, pulling out his phone.
"Hold on, I'll check with his mum, maybe he's sick today" he dialled the number while giving Vera a side look that indicated he suspected something else.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Mrs. Matthews? Sorry, its Sky. Is Jacob home sick today?" he asks.

"What? No, of course not. He's perfectly fine, he practically skipped out the door this morning. Why?"

Sky frowned but hid it with a happy tone.
"Oh nothing, he's probably just distracted. Thanks! Have a good day!" he ends the call "weird...hmm, I'll go check with Josh, maybe he knows." He gives Vera a knowing look.

Vera nods.
"That's a good idea Sky, Jacob mentioned something on the phone last night about playing UNO with Josh today so he might be there" she smiles "we'll wait here"

Sky smiles then walks over to the table that the rangers always sat at. There was the five of them, with one empty seat for the days Jacob was sitting with them.
"Hey guys"

Alice looks up from what looks to be science work.
"Oh, hi there Sky"

Josh groans, completely unaware of Sky's presence. He seemed to be doing science too, Sky raised an eyebrow before making an 'ohhhh' noise. Alice was helping Josh.
"A, how the heck do you do this?"

Alice shook her head.
"Josh, its simple, look back at your notes there's a formula" she looks back to Sky "what's up?"

Sky acts completely normal just in case someone was listening.
"Just wondering if you guys have seen Jacob today?"
