George's POV

I sat there as he walked over to the bed and sat down. It was quiet, but not noticeably to the point that he knew I was upset. He looked around for a minute and I decided to break the silence, taking a breath and opening my mouth to speak, but I was interrupted.

"So you like her?" I froze and tensed up. I couldn't help but fall quiet and look down. I played with my fingers.

"Of course I do." I smiled and looked back up at him, which only made him groan and throw his head back.

"I mean do you like her, George?" Once again I found myself not knowing exactly what to say. In fact, I don't know exactly what I feel. Of course if I felt anything more than friendship I wanted it to go away, but it isn't that easy. "Hello?"

"I don't know" I spoke quickly and refused to look up at him since I already felt his look burning into my head.

"I think you do"

"I don't know!" I didn't mean to shout but it came out quickly. I was looking at him now and he had no reaction. "Okay?" I spoke softer and kept our eye contact.

"What's going on then?"

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. come on, George"

"Clay I really don't-"

"It's obvious-"

"Give me a break!" I shot up out of my bed and was now standing. That time I knew I was going to raise my voice and I did nothing to stop it. "Every time I ever catch feeling. Ever. I am the one who gets hurt. I end up broken for too long. You know what happened with Far-"

"We don't need to mention her" hearing her name even makes him upset, come on you know that George.

"You saw how I was after that. I can not nor will I, find myself in a situation like that again" I sat down again and put my head in my hands.

"Deena wouldn't do anything like that to you" I felt the weight on the bed shift and he was now standing up.

"Even if I did have feelings for her, it wouldn't matter." My voice was muffled into my hands but he still was able to make out what I said.

"How would it not matter?"

"She has feelings for you?" It was obvious. His silence showed It too. I still didn't look up but heard shuffling.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

"What?" I looked up and he scoffed at me while rolling his eyes. He rubbed his face and groaned.

"She does not have feelings for me, George. And if she did I would tell her off immediately" his tone softened a little bit and he seemed more playful for some reason. "We are friends. Period. That it"

"Oh" great now I'm embarrassed. "Okay"

"Now tell me" he started and I opened my mouth ready to protest before he continued. "without making excuses." He pointed at me and I looked down again.

"What?"

"Do you have feelings for Denise?" He put his hands together and pointed them at me. Do I? Are we just really close, and I'm just confused?

"I- I don't know" a loud groan came from where Clay was and I looked over to the bathroom.

"George!"

"Yeah!?" I shouted through the door and stood outside of it.

"Can you talk to me through the door to keep me company?" I heard her laugh and laughed to myself
