Deena's POV

We got inside and walked up to the kitchen where Nick and Clay were. They shot up and ran to Darryl, giving him a big hug. I sat down on the couch while George went over to them. They talked for a moment, about I don't even know what because I was zoned out. My thoughts were pried away from me from Darryl jumping on the couch and hugging me again tightly. I tensed up from the sudden contact and he let go quickly.

"Sorry" he looked guilty and I stayed quiet, shaking my head before hugging him. "I forgot. I always have forgotten even when we were kids" he let out a small laugh and I Joined him, nodding my head

"Yeah you did. I remember one time you really freaked me out when I wasn't expecting a hug and I elbowed you straight in the face." I laughed and he rolled my eyes.

"Yeah and you nearly broke my nose" he shook his head and laughed with me. Being with Darryl again really helped out with everything. I looked over and saw the guys smiling at us before I turned back to Darryl. I've been trying to be as okay as possible after everything because Nick and George are here, and I don't want to ruin their stay. I want to have fun with them. "How's your face?" He asked softly.

"It doesn't hurt that much. Because I have antibiotics of course. But sometimes I'll touch it in accident and it'll hurt." I nodded and he did the same, looking at the stitches.

"When will you get them taken out?" Prior to the laughter and joy we were sharing just a minute ago, the mood completely flipped and it was low and gloomy.

"They'll dissolve in about a week" I nodded my head and looked down. I felt a hand slowly being placed on my shoulder and I turned back to Darryl, his eyes watering.

"I'm so sorry" he choked out and I but my lip, nodding my head. It was quiet for a minute and they guys decided to excuse themselves.

"I just don't understand why" I started crying again, softer than the sobs I had let out when he first got here. He gently pulled me into his arms and held me.

"I know, I don't either" he put his fingers through my hair and kept me steady while I cried. "But you're okay"

"Miranda's gone" at this moment I couldn't help but cry harder, sucking in breaths and feeling my chest tightening. "She's gone, Darryl. I'll never get to go to her house and watch the office with her again. I'll never get to hear her groan in frustration over small things in Minecraft, or hear her complain about how long it takes to gather materials. I'll never be able to call her in the morning to tell her my crazy dreams I had the night before, or how much fun I had doing whatever. I'll never be able to see her again, hear her again, or hug her again. I never even hugged her after the guys saved us, we just tried to get out as fast as possible. Not even a goodbye, Darryl. And oh my god I'll never be able to go to the beach at 12 a.m. just because she wanted to see the stars. Just because she begged me to go with her. I'll never hear her stories again or see how her face lit up when she'd speak about them. Never"

"Denise" Darryl started and I looked up, he gently wiped my tears and stared at me. "You may never get to see the stars again with her, but think of it this way. Maybe she is one of the stars now. Something she lived and I know you grew to live because of her."

"O-okay" I snuggled back up to his side, like I did when we were younger and I got in trouble, or when I fell if my bike and got hurt.

"I love you, okay?"

"I love you too." I closed my eyes and relaxed, before feeling my phone start to buzz. I looked at it and it was Miranda's mom. What does she want? She kicked Miranda out at 15 and never spoke to her again.

"Hello?" I answered and gave Darryl's questioning look a 'hold on' hand motion.

"Hey, Denise. I have to have a funeral for Miranda. It's small but it's tomorrow"

"Tomorrow?!" I bit my nails. How already? It's only been barely three days.

"Yes, tomorrow. That's what I said isn't it? Be there." Was all I heard before she hung up. I stared at my phone and got a text of an address.

"Who was that?" Darryl sat up next to me and looked at me.

"Miranda's mom. Funeral's tomorrow" I placed the phone down and rubbed my eyes. Darryl stood up and reached out his hand for me, carefully grabbing it and pulling me up. We made our way downstairs and sure enough they were watching a movie. They were watching finding Nemo and we both crept in, sitting down. Clay, Nick, and Darryl took the front seats, leaving me and George in the back.

"Hey" he whispered and smiled.

"Hi" I smiled back as I sat down. "Funeral's tomorrow"

"Already?" He seemed as shocked as I was, I just simply nodded my head and turned my attention to the movie. We watched the whole things before deciding to make some dinner. Which we had no plans for.

"Deena makes a really good spaghetti!" Darryl piped in and I spun my head towards him. "She's a good cook really" he smiled and the rest of the guys stared at me with begging looks. I groaned and walked into the kitchen, grabbing everything I needed.

"Yeahhh!!" Nick cheered and came from behind me, hugging me. "Thank you I am so hungry how long will it take?"

"At most, an hour" I laughed at him before he let go, sitting at the bar in the kitchen. It only took 45 minutes and I told everyone it was done, making them act like starving animals and bolting into the kitchen.

"What's that?" Nick stood next to me and pointed at a player with bread.

"Garlic bread, you idiot" I laughed and he let out an 'oooo' before grabbing a piece. I got my food after everyone and we all sat at the table eating. Luckily none of them are loud chewers so I didn't want to rip my ears off.

"So" I started and put my fork down, making everyone look at me. "The funeral is tomorrow at 10:30" Darryl and George nodded, since they already knew, but Nick and Clay had the same 'already?' Reaction before saying okay. Clay said he'd drive, and we can stop to get flowers and everything on the way.

"I need to get a dress" I spoke, messing with my food.

"We can go after dinner" George smiled softly and I nodded. "Speaking of.. holy shit Deena I did not know you were such a good cook"

"Thank you. Sometimes I can burn a house down though, so don't get your hopes up" I laughed, everyone joining.

"She's not joking. She almost caught our childhood home's kitchen on fire from making eggs." That made Clay wheeze and everyone laugh.

"How did you make eggs that bad?" Clay managed to ask before laughing again.

"No idea it just kind of happened" I laughed and we all calmed down, getting back to eating.
