Deena's pov

The ride back I had a smile on my face the entire time. George did too, at least whenever I glanced at him. We didn't talk, but it wasn't awkward at all, only comfortable and filled sigh happiness. The beach was playing off of my phone into the aux. my hands were rested on my lap and I was looking out the window as we passed trees and houses, slowly more houses being common as we get into the more populated areas. I rested my head against the window and completely took in everything that was happening. He asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes. We're together now, here, with each other. I felt something warm touch my finger and glanced down to see George's hand slowly. He carefully intertwined our fingers, and I could tell he was nervous so once he rested his hand, I gave it a little squeeze. I looked over and saw him let out a breath and smile to himself, making me do the same. I closed my eyes and soon felt myself drift to sleep.

Back at the cottage

"Hey, love, wake up" I felt soft hands rubbing my shoulder and slowly opened my eyes and looked over to see George with a small smile.

"Hi" I spoke, my voice slightly raspy. He smiled and reached down to unbuckle my seatbelt, carefully putting it back against the side of the car.

"Come on" he laughed at me and got out of the car, getting my door as well. Once he opened the door he helped me up and put my phone in his pocket. I stretched and smiled before we started walking inside. The door opened and immediately, we were greeted by Nick and Clay staring at us. Hopeful filled eyes and they looked like kids begging to have a sleepover.

"So" Nick spoked and I rolled my eyes at him, shoving him out of the way as I walked up the stairs. "George?"

"Yeah" I turned and the two literal children started cheering before charging at me, making me widen my eyes and bolt up the stairs as fast as I could. As soon as I made it up, then close behind, I saw Downey laying on the couch but get exited when he saw me.

"Downey! Attack!" I shouted and pointed at the two boys. He playfully started barking and they put their hands up, playfully falling dead when he jumped up to their knees. "Good job!"

"That's no fair" Clay pointed at me from the ground and I just laughed. They both got up and Clay was the first to come and give me a genuine hug. "I'm happy for you"

"Hey so am I" Nick whined and waited for Clay to let go of me so he could give me a hug. "C'mere"

"Okay" I rolled my eyes and forced myself out of his grasp. "I'm going to change"

"Okay hurry up it's movie time" Clay shoved my shoulder a bit, making me laugh. I got down to my room and as I was walking by George's door he was walking out, still putting a shirt on. It was covering his face at the moment so I poked his stomach.

"Hey stop I'm ticklish!" He laughed. I laughed with him and shoved him away, walking into my room. I heard his footsteps go up the stairs. I quickly threw on a 'dream' hoodie and some sweats. I headed upstairs and heard arguments about what movie to watch.

"What don't we ask Deena?" Clay suggested as I approached them on the couches. "Hey nice hoodie!"

"Damn won't even wear your own boyfriends merch.." Nick dragged out and made us all laugh. I shoved his head and plopped down in between George and Clay, pretending to scoot closer to Clay, making George drop his mouth to the floor.

"Hey!" I bursted oh laughing again and scooted right up next to him, everyone else laughing too. I thought about what movie I'd like to watch for a minute, still not thinking of anything. Downey jumped down from the couch Nick was on after stretching and jumped onto the couch, snuggling against me. We decided to watch Scott pilgrim and stay in the living room rather than watching it in the theater. (This upset Nick). I wasn't even able to make it through the movie before passing out. Soon I was woken up being carried down some stairs, soft conversation happening.

"Have you talked to her about it yet?" It was Nick.

"I'm scared to, Nick. What if it makes her want to end things. What if she can't handle that?"

"That's why you need to talk about it. Have a real conversation, just you and her."

"I don't want to lose her for something like that though..."

"Then don't" George stopped walking. "Goodnight"

"Goodnight" I realized we just stopped at Nick's floor and we started walking again, going in our room after a moment. What were they talking about? What happened?

"Love" I slowly opened my eyes, squinting at him. His eyes were filled with worry and sadness. "Hey do you want to sleep in here?"

"Please" I gave him a concerned look, him only ignoring it. He laid me down on the bed, pulling the covers over me, before walking to the other side, wrapping his arms around me. But I had to know what was up, so I sat up. "Are you okay?"

"What?" He say up with me, avoiding eye contact.

"George, don't play dumb. Not only do you look worried out of your mind, you also seem down, and you won't even look at me." He looked at me once I said that and he looked even worse. "Jesus what is going on"

I scooted over to him and I wrapped my arms around him. He collapsed onto me as we sat there and he just stayed quiet. He didn't cry, he didn't speak, but he was just limp in my arms.

"George" I pulled away and he wasn't looking at me again. I put my hand on his face and gently turned it towards me. "Please talk to me"

"Okay" now I was filled with worry and I was honestly so scared for what was wrong with him. "Deena I uh"

He stopped and took a sharp breath in, and his eyes wandered around my face, examining it almost. He closed his eyes and let out the breath he was holding in.

"I've been here for almost three months."
