Chapter 27

The cold wind swept my long, curly hair as I walk towards the railings of the pier. I breathed in the salty, yet fresh, air of the vast, enigmatic ocean as I satisfy my eyes with the beautiful morning of October.

Hindi ko sukat-akalain na dito ako dadalhin ni Jake matapos kumain ng breakfast sa Empire Hotel, one of the infamous Five-Star hotels of his Italian father. I know about it because I've read it on a magazine once. We were friends long before I knew of that piece of information regarding both him and Josh's wealth status.

I sighed deeply as I felt a warm, veiny arm snaked around my waist.

"We need to go," Jake whispered softly on my ear.

Nangilabot ako sa ginawa niya pero pinilit kong balewalain iyon. As soon as we started walking towards the stairs, I had my head low to hide myself from the people staring at us. The feeling of being recognized by some stranger never left my system.

Every time nasasalubong ko ang mga mata nila, I would automatically assume that they know me and my sins because I shared it through twitter thread. Mapait akong napangiti habang bumababa kami sa hagdanan patungo sa yacht na naghihintay sa amin.

Siguro ay ganito na ang kahihinatnan ng bawat araw na darating sa buhay ko. Wherever I go, humiliation follows. Fear creeps on me like a thorny vine wrapped around the thread of my Red String of fate.

I can never escape all of it.

Jake hoisted me up as I climb onto the steeled ladder of the yacht.

"You did not wear any shorts?"

Namula ang pisngi ko sa narinig. And because of the realization hit me, muntik na akong mahulog sa buhangin. Di ko alam kung matutuwa ako o mahihiya dahil hinawakan ni Jake ang puwitan ko bilang pagsuporta sa akin para hindi tuluyang mahulog.

Huminga ako ng malalim at hinila ang sarili pataas hanggang sa makatapak sa yate. Bakit ko nga ba nakalimutan magsuot ng maikling shorts or cycling? Nakita niya tuloy ang red lace underwear ko.

Bago pa man makaakyat si Jake ay nagtanong na ako sa isang crew kung saan ang mga kwarto. Hindi naman ito nagdalawang-isip at agad akong hinatid sa loob. Nagpasalamat ako nang tumigil kami sa tapat ng isang mahogany door bago pumasok sa silid.

I wanted to lock the door, but seeing both of our luggages were placed at a corner of the room, I know I shouldn't. This only means that we'll be sleeping again in the same room.

Napabuntong hininga ako. "Seryoso talaga siya sa pagpapahiya sa akin?"

Jake's plan is working. Because I've been feeling worse of the worst about myself. Sleeping with him in the same room, and on the same bed, is like pouring a barrel of gasoline to the scorching sun. The guilt that's been sleeping inside my chest is ripping my ribcages apart as my heart beats strong and fast whenever he's beside me.

Dahan-dahan akong humiga sa kama. Ganito ang nararamdaman ko 'pag nariyan siya dahil naaalala ko ang mga araw na magkasama kami ni Josh na wala siya. Our situation is just the same, but the roles are different.

Tahimik lang sa hapag habang kumakain kaming dalawa ng hapunan. Walang may balak magsalita. Di ko rin naman gustong makipagusap dahil pagod ako, baka kung ano pa ang masabi ko at makatanggap ang FE ng negative feedback dahil lang sa issue naming dalawa.

Mabilis kong natapos ang pagkain dahil kaunti lang ang kinuha ko. Actually, 3pm na ngayon. At ngayon pa lang kami kumain ng aming lunch dahil naging busy siya sa telepono.

"Excuse me," I said before walking towards the door of the dining room.

Di naman niya ako pinigilan sa pag-alis dahil nakasaad sa kontrata namin na kapag gusto kong malayo sa kanya, kailangan niyang pumayag. Marami pa ang kondisyones ko, mas madami kaysa sa kanya. I'm just making sure na hindi magiging hadlang ang past naming dalawa sa trabahong ito.

And Jake agreed to every conditions I have, and the terms indicated in the contract is obviously mutual. He did not complain or anything anyway. Pumunta ako sa deck dahil gusto kong mapanood ang sunset. But Jake must've had something in mind so even before I could sit next to the railings of the yacht, he pulled me softly to him.

"Sleep with me."

Yun lang ang sinabi niya at pumasok na kami sa kwarto. Di naman ako makareklamo because his actions are according to the contract. Kapag pinayagan niya ako sa isang bagay, siya naman ang pagbibigyan ko after kong matanggap ito.

Napalunok ako nung yakapin niya ako ng mahigpit as soon as we lied down on the bed. Kinumutan niya ang katawan naming dalawa and tightened his embrace. I had my back on him so he nussled his face on my nape.
