You walked alongside Sans through your patrol of the forest, heading back to Snowdin. You had your hood up, hiding your red flowers. You've had them since birth, and every few days, maybe a week, another tiny one will appear. Sans says they'd constantly find flower blossoms in your cradle, the buds too strong for your body to keep ahold of. They only began to hold when you were two, maybe three.
You've had enough to bloom from your left temple, wrapped all the way around the back of your skull, and over your right eye socket, all in one thick patch of soft red about three inches wide. Not to mention the other small flower patches on other parts of your body.
Nowadays, though, they've begun to grow towards your left eye, and with each new bud your anxiety to going blind grows.
You constantly want to cling to your brothers hands', like you did as a small tot, but now you're afraid it makes you look too childish.
You eye Sans' sleeve, the urge to grip onto it growing before you tear your gaze away, staring down at the new bud that arrived a few mornings ago. It sat upon your left hand, on the side of your first knuckle bone.
You come to a sudden halt as a spike of pain hits you in between the eyes, a red bud breaking past the bone to bloom upon the bridge of your nose.
"(Y/n)!?"
You blinked open your eye as the pain settled and vanished, seeing Sans wide-eyed as he ran back to you.
"Another one..." You murmured sadly, gently tapping the crimson blossom.
Sans lets put a heavy sigh, taking your hand in his. "C'mon, let's head home. 's gettin' late."
...
"Will we reach the surface, Sans?"
The question nearly made him stop again.
"Y-Yeah! Course we will! W-We'll get to the surface!"
Sans never stuttered, well only ever in front of Papyrus, but not at times like this. You frowned slightly, catching on to his uncertainty, but you quickly replaced it with a smile.
"Okay."A human was here.
All those years of hoping a human would fall, free the monsters, and rid you of your curse were being answered.
The human was graciously kind, even going so far as to offer to give you healing items, which consisted of one slightly dusty piece of candy they found in the Ruins.
"Heh, sorry buddy, those don't work for me. Trust me, I tried."
They pouted at that, looking at the piece of candy like it betrayed them.
Still they didn't give up, holding your hand and walking through the forest with you, walking with you right into Snowdin with their head held high.
Weeks had gone by in their time underground, them trying to get past the various monsters after their soul.
In that time, the flowers began multiplying, growing in twos, then threes, then fours.
Sans was a nervous wreck, practically piggy backing you everywhere. Eventually he carried alongside Frisk, helping the human traverse the Underground.
The flowers nearly blinded you now, just a small patch left for you to see out of. They grew at your joints, making it hard to move or walk.
Sans' only motivation at this point was the fact you weren't a pile of dust and petals yet.
The day you all made it to Judgement Hall was the day you could no longer see. You listened to the echoing taps and squeaks of their shoes on the tile, then the rough brush of their feet on carpet.
The magical flowers rang sometimes, now too loud for you to hear the conversation with King Asgore.
The flowers messed with your internal clock, but eventually, you felt warm. The ringing faded, and one by one, the flowers glowed and fell away.
Sunlight.
Sunlight was the first thing you saw, then Sans' crying, smiling face. You could move your fingers again, gripping onto Sans' jacket as you slowly regained control of your legs again and stood on your own two feet.
Your curse was gone, and you had a whole new world to look forward to.
