"ErRoR!"
You weep when you find him, too damaged to be healed. You gather him into your arms, holding him as close as you could. His eye sockets were closed, his breathing labored and heavy, he clung to your arms as you both could only wait.
Slowly, you picked him up, opening a portal and carrying him through. You carried him through the glittering fields of snow, having picked an older, emptier version of the Outertale AU so the human wouldn't reset.
Empty, but still beautiful, just what he would want.
You settle down with him again, and this time he cracks his sockets open, staring up at the sky of nebulas and stars.
You watched as his form slowly faded, the dust dull against the shining snow. You were never really open to cry, but here you were, bawling like a newborn baby.
You felt the blip of teleportation magic, and already knowing who it was from the aura, you stood, turned, and buried your face into Nightmare's chest as you hugged him like your life depended on it.
"It'S nOt FaIr!!!" You wailed, feeling like your Soul was about to snap in half from the grief. The little "Error"'s that surrounded you were glitching and fizzing in and out, a few of them even nicking Nightmare just from the close proximity.
Nonetheless, Nightmare was quick to wrap his arms around you, shushing you gently as he led you to a portal.
He brought you to his castle, leading you into one of the many living rooms.
"What happened?" He asked once you'd calmed some, watching as your (magic color) tears streamed down your cheeks, matching the lines both you and Error shared.
Any attempt to wipe your tears was in vain for him, seeing as his goop would just smear on your face.
So, scrubbing your dusty sleeves over your face to try and compose yourself, you muttered a simple word.
"InK..."
Nothing else needed to be said, seeing as Nightmare's aura went from calm and gentle to outright enraged.
"He's gone too far. Him and Dream both." He seethed, standing up and placing a gentle hand on your head. "Wait here, I'll tell the others. The kitchen's through that door if you want snacks."
You watched as Nightmare crossed the room, looking over the back of the couch like a small child until he disappeared from view. You looked up as the kitchen door opened, shoving a spoonful of ice cream into your mouth.(if you don't like ice cream, you may pick another kind of comfort food!)
You'd already gone through half of the large tub, and no, you did not care.
Dust stood there, sympathy crossing his expression when his gaze landed on you.
You stared back at the colored, creamy desert in front of you, eating another spoonful as you felt Dust sit next to you.
It was quiet, save for the occasional sniffle from you. Slowly, Dust pulled you into a side hug, letting you lean up against him.
"It'll be okay, we're gonna get revenge one way or another, (Y/n)."
You nodded, a small whine leaving you when your ice cream got snatched away.
"Nightmare's making dinner in a bit! Besides, too much ice cream is bad for you!" Dust chided gently, patting your cheek before he stood to put the ice cream away."CrOsS."
"Hm?"
"Do YoU wAnT a PaRt Of ThIs Au BeFoRe I gEt RiD oF iT?" You asked, flexing you fingers and watching the (color) strings glitter and fizzle, wrapped around various things in the AU, all ready to be torn apart.
Just like Error taught you.
"No, thank you. I've got what I need."
You nodded, clenching your hands into fists, watching as stitch marks in the AU appeared, and then you pulled back, watching those marks become rifts and tears, the blank white of a deleted AU beginning to spread.
Conversation stopped, children running through the snow froze, water dripping from Waterfall's stalagtites hung in midair, and Hotlands' bubbling lava pools came to a stop.
It was like everything was put on pause, the timeline of the AU stopping the moment the threads were cut.
In no time at all, the frozen AU crumbled away, successfully deleted without any interference from that damned rainbow sh—
You took a breath, held it, and let it go. Now was not the time to be thinking of him.
You had to keep going, so turning back to Cross, you followed him into the next AU.
Overtime, you managed to work at a faster pace than Error did, seeing as Ink wasn't used to your presence, and couldn't get to the deleted AU's in time to save them.
It needed to stay that way, but alas, all good things must come to an end.
Ink had found you one day on your own, and the both of you were surprised when you suddenly burst into tears, your mind conjuring up a horrid image of what you imagined their last battle to be like.
"(Y/n)..."
"Go AwAy YoU rAiNbOw BaStArD!!!" You screeched, glitching out slightly as your strings tossed him from you.
You did not want to deal with him right now. Physically, you could take him on, but mentally, you could break down even further at any second.
Ink got to his feet, beginning to walk towards you when bones erupted from the ground in front of him, and suddenly, Dust was next to you, eyelights dark.
"I suggest you get back, paint puddle." He hissed, grinning sickeningly as he summoned a sharp bone in his hands.
Ink opened his mouth to speak, but quickly shut it as a bone whooshed past him, leaving a decently deep cut in his cheek bone.
You watched past tearful sockets as Ink turned and fled, you gaze traveling to Dust once he was gone.
His smile turned gentle when he looked to you. "Go ahead and finish with this AU, I'll watch your back."
You returned his smile. "Thanks Dust."(What.)
(What the f*ck.)
