the assignment

As Aizawa taught his class, he divided us into pairs to do an assignment. And of course, Sensei had to partner me up with Bakugou. But when I went to complain to him, saying I refused to work with someone like him, Aizawa just brushed me off and told me to start working. I knew he was angry at me for something (maybe because earlier that day I was making noise when I ate my snacks during class), but I wasn't able to convince him otherwise.

I sighed, carrying my heavy backpack with me as I sat down in front of Bakugou. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand, looking away from his face, irritated.

"Let's just finish this damn assignment as fast as possible so we don't have to see each other again."

"Finally," I sighed, "Something we can both agree on."

We started the task at hand, splitting up the assignment into two. But then Bakugou kept on correcting me, I was surprised he was able to discern my small mistakes.

"Woah," I complimented, "You're smarter than you look, firecrackers."

"Yeah, well I get that a lot," he complained, "I'm not just some dumbass who knows how to fight. Also, will you stop calling m-"

He stopped himself before he could finish. It seemed like he finally accepted the nickname I gave him.

"Whatever..."

We continued on working when suddenly Bakugou scoffed, interrupting my work.

"Anyways, why would you wanna fight that idiot?"

I looked up, puzzled as to why he'd ask. But I answered nonetheless.

"He's the only person I've ever wanted to fight apart from my older brother," I admitted, "Kirishima's quirk is awesome. My brother has a similar ability like his, so I knew right away he was strong when I saw him."

But Bakugou only laughed.

"Sure, he can harden his body," he boasted, "but his quirk is nowhere near as cool as mine!"

I sighed again, rolling my eyes.

"It's obvious modesty isn't your strong suit."

Bakugou flinched, pissed off, but didn't say anything about it.

"Tch. I just don't get it," he grunted, "What's so great about a guy like him?"

I looked up from my papers, confused. But before I was able to answer, Bakugou just brushed off his own question and looked away from me.

"N-Nevermind!" Bakugou said as his face turned bright red, "L-Let's just keep working on this stupid assignment! The faster we work, the quicker we can stop talking to each other!"

I shrugged, uninterested, and kept working on the assignment.
