That same day after school, Kirishima waited outside the building near the track. After hearing we were going to fight, some of our classmates decided to join us to see who'd win, and I even saw Bakugou there. Though I admit I got there a little late on purpose, but it was just to make an entrance for myself. I walked toward Kirishima, who had his training suit on like me, and the two of us stared into each other's eyes as our friends cheered us on.
"I'm so glad I didn't miss this fight!" Ashido shrieked.
"I'm curious to see (l/n)'s abilities in action," Tokoyami asserted.
"(y/n) might be strong, but Kirishima has this in the bag!" Kaminari proclaimed.
"No way! Haven't you seen (y/n) in the Festival? They kicked ass!" Sero exclaimed.
"Yeah, but I've noticed that (y/n) has been sick lately. I wonder if they can do it," Jirou worried.
"Kirishima has a lot more endurance than her," flameo pointed out, "I believe he'll have the upper hand in this fight."
"There's only one way to find out then!" Kirishima declared.
As everyone chattered, I struggled to fix my peach colored hair. I tied my bedhead hair into a ponytail, but it was so messy I decided to just let it loose. Eijirou and I stood in front of each other, positioning ourselves as the referee, Satou, raised his arm to initiate the fight.
I knew if Kirishima was smart, he wouldn't have any metal on him; and sure enough, he didn't. I have to admit that before our battle I used my quirk to check, and he didn't seem to have any metals. That was why I brought my own chains to our fight, and when Kirishima ran toward me, I used my chains to block his attack by stretching it out as long as possible with both hands. I managed to block Kirishima's arm chop, but he kept pushing the chains downward, causing me to lose strength.
"Come on, (y/n)! Is that all you've got?!"
I quickly turned my body around and escaped from Kirishima's attack. I lowered my body when Eijirou tried to punch me in the chest, crouching. I stretched my chains again from below and twisted them around Kirishima's legs, pulling them as I raised his body upside down.
"W-Woah! W-What the hell?!" Kirishima freaked out.
Though when I thought I was victorious, Eijirou managed to break my chains with his hardened arms. My chains broke apart, and when Eijirou looked at me with determined eyes, I felt a burst of adrenaline pump my body.
"What's wrong? Ran out of ideas already?" Eijirou mocked.
I noticed that despite being broken, bits of my chains were still intact on the floor. If I could somehow stop Kirishima from moving, I could actually have a shot at defeating him. And then it hit me.
Kirishima ran toward me again, swinging his arms at me as I desperately tried to dodge them all. I knew that with one hit, I could be immobilized from the pain, so I had to be careful. I kept on dodging, leading Eijirou to the chains, and when he was close enough for me to reach, I made my broken chains stick to Kirishima's legs.
"What the-? What do you think you're doing?!"
I lowered my right hand, and as I got closer to him, the chains forced Kirishima to kneel down from how heavy they got, just like I did with Iida. The force was too great, even for him, pushing Eijirou to the ground. He could barely move his legs, and just when I was about to make my final move, I felt my chest tightening all of a sudden.
I took a few steps back, coughing, and accidentally deactivated my quirk in the process. I covered my mouth with my hand, forcing my eyes to open, only to see that Eijirou had his arm hovering on top of my head. Right there and then, I knew I had been defeated, and heard everyone cheer on for Kirishima.
"Wow, Kirishima. You actually managed to beat (y/n)," Ashido congratulated.
"You almost got me there, bro," Kaminari laughed.
"You were great out there," Tokoyami nodded.
After I stopped coughing, I stood up straight, looking at Kirishima's back as everyone gathered around him to praise his victory. He looked at me seriously, and then turned to his other friends.
"Are you ok, (y/n)?" Sero worried.
"You almost won," Jirou said as she placed her hand on my shoulder, "What... happened?"
I looked down, depressed because I lost.
"Don't be upset," Todoroki reassured, "I know you're a lot stronger than Kirishima, so next time I'm sure you'll be able to defeat him."
I raised my head to look at Todoroki, smiling weakly.
"Thanks, flameo."
I headed toward Kirishima next, and everyone backed down when they saw me. I stood in front of him, smirking as I pointed myself with my thumb.
"I promise next time I'll beat you, Kirishima!"
Eijirou grinned, showing off his sharp teeth.
"In your dreams, (y/n)! But you can try!"
The two of us laughed together as everyone left the outsides toward the entrance gates.
"Next time we'll do a wrestling match, Kirishima!"
