A few days after the Sports Festival, I decided to ride my skateboard on my way to class. I was a few minutes early, so I skated around the hallways in a slow pace as I got there. I made sure Aizawa wasn't inside, so I made my way to my desk, still riding my penny skateboard and put it away in my backpack after sitting down.
Just as I hid it, someone stood in front of me. He had bright red hair and sharp teeth, and I can't lie by saying I've never seen him before. But I just couldn't wrap my head around it.
"Woah," he gasped, "You carry that thing around all the time? Isn't that heavy?"
I looked up and grinned, setting my bag aside.
"That's so cool!" he smirked, "Did you ride that all the way here? You really are a rebel, (y/n)!"
I squinted my eyes to try and figure out where I had seen him before, and when I suddenly recalled the Festival, it was all clear to me. It was Eijirou Kirishima; the one that caught my eye in the Festival.
"Wait-" I stood up as I kept my eyes on him, "You're the guy who fought that metal dude in the Festival! Your... Kirishima, right?"
He scratched the back of his neck, laughing awkwardly.
"Y-Yeah. That was me. I can't believe you remembered that."
At around that same time, Bakugou entered the room and sat on his desk, but I didn't pay much attention to him.
"I saw the entire fight! The brawl and the arm wrestling match! Those were the only ones I saw, really!"
My eyes lit up as I smiled, excited.
"You were amazing."
Kirishima's cheeks turned bright red, barely noticeable from afar.
"R-Really?" he said as he scratched the back of his neck, "Nobody has ever said that to me before. Thank you."
Everyone in the room turned toward Bakugou when he started laughing to himself.
"So what?" Bakugou mocked, "Kirishima lost against me in the end. I beat his ass in the Sports Festival!"
Bakugou stood up from his seat, stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked up towards us with a cocky grin.
"He lost along with the rest of the class!"
Kirishima looked down, dejected. I followed his eyes, sad he had to deal with Bakugou's rude antics, but I didn't give up.
"Losing doesn't make you a failure," I explained, "Far from it, actually. Despite the fact that Kirishima knew he had the possibility of losing against you, he still fought you."
I smiled awkwardly; my eyes on Kirishima the entire time.
"In fact, those who refuse to fight make them a failure. Like me, I guess."
I looked down, thinking of my brother.
"But Kirishima fought until the end. That's what makes someone a great hero."
Bakugou closed his eyes as he turned around to leave.
"Tch," Bakugou grunted, Whatever."
And with that, I made yet another great friend.
