Since I was part of the extra lessons group along with Sero, Ashido, Kaminari, Satou and Kirishima, all six of us were obligated to take classes after training everyday. I didn't know about this after a few days in camp where Aizawa came knocking on my door and asked why I was skipping classes. But even when I tried explaining to Sensei I had no idea what he was talking about, he proceeded to pull me to his class by force.
That evening, I sat down on a desk near the door, slouching as the other five took notes on their books. I just sat there, bored as I kept on yawning, making sure Aizawa couldn't hear me. And when Sensei would turn around to look at us, I'd pretended I was paying attention by looking at him and holding my pen. It worked every time; he never suspected a thing.
Halfway through Aizawa's teaching, someone poked me with their pencil on the shoulder, and it was none other than Kirishima, who sat behind me. The two of us began a conversation between whispers, making sure Sensei didn't catch us.
"Hey, (y/n). I hope what Bakugou said to you didn't get to you. He can be a real jerk if we don't put him in his place. If he does that again, I promise I'll teach him a lesson! He doesn't have the right to tell you that!"
After I went back to the table to finish my meal that evening, I didn't say much. Sero and Bakugou just kept arguing while Kishirima tried to calm them down.
"I'm fine," I lied, "You don't have to worry about me. That's just how he expresses himself, I guess."
To be honest, I had moved on from Bakugou's rude comment after he apologized to me. But I didn't want Eijirou to know I had been really affected by it.
"Anyways," he grinned, "I saw you lift that barbell earlier today. You almost had it!"
My eyes lit up at the sight of Kirishima's sharp smile.
"T-Thanks, I guess," I whispered, "But that was nothing compared to what you were doing, Kirishima. I saw those hits Ojiro did to you, and you were still standing defending yourself."
Kirishima scratched the back of his neck, smiling awkwardly.
"Thanks, (y/n)," he replied, "I was still beaten pretty badly, though. Ojiro's tail isn't as soft as it looks. But I managed. Hell; I dare even say my skin has gotten a lot stronger because of that!"
With every word that escaped Kirishima's lips, I'd grow fonder and fonder over him. I admired him so; how Eijirou was so brave and strong despite how impossible things might seem. I looked over my shoulder at him, serious, and made sure Aizawa was writing on the board.
"I like you, Kirishima."
After hearing that, Eijirou's eyes widened as his cheeks turned bright red, flustered.
"W-What?" he stammered, "W-What was that all of a sudden?!"
"You remind me of my older brother, (b/n), a lot," I smiled, "You two show great determination in the field and always strive for the best. I couldn't ask for any more from a great hero."
"O-Oh," Eijirou sighed, relieved, "Y-You had me for a minute there, (y/n)."
Suddenly, our conversation was interrupted by Sensei, who threw a dry eraser at Kirishima's face.
"Quiet back there, you two," he said without back, "What? You thought I couldn't hear you?"
The two of us looked at each other with bashful expressions as I turned around, looking at the board again. I felt my heart race when Kirishima's bright smile flooded my mind, and I knew I felt something more than a feeling of friendship.
