Chapter 121

Zach's Thoughts

The weeks sent by slow, and every waking moment I wished I was with Koda. She had gone back to working and was talking with Brad; doing all normal things though I knew she was just masking the pain. A few nights, she had cried herself to sleep- of course I was there consoling her and comforting her to the best of my ability. It was worse when she went to the doctor and they did what they had to to remove the baby. I won't get into details, it brings tears from my eyes when I even fathom it, but little Delilah Pippa Rose Abels-Rutherford (that was the name we all ultimately decided) was so tiny, so fragile and so saddening it still grips my heart.

The whole house felt the turmoil of the situation.

   But, gradually..

things got better.

We were nearing closer and closer to our next round of tour dates, and through the hustle-and-bustle, we all seemed to have forgotten that a wedding was in the midst. Once things started to get brighter, we began to talk dates and plan arrangements and where we would like to go in our honeymoon.

    Jesse.

Jesse was easing back into his normal self, but you could tell this whole ordeal hurt him the most. He looked tired, he looked so sad. His eyes were so downtrodden and dim 24/7, and when he smiled it was a sad, barely lip raising smile that fell back once no one was looking. He took the toll of all of this, he felt so incredibly bad, but it wasn't his fault. I told him that, Koda told him that; it just wasn't meant to be right now. If it was, it was. There's nothing you can do.

"Life's too short to waste what little time we have worrying about the past."

Things were easing up. Light was returning to everyone's eyes, to their demeanors. It was beginning to be like it was: happy.

And I was glad for that.
