The rain had slowed some, now only creating light pitter-patter on the roof. Water still ran down the road, though slower; carrying debris like tree limbs and leaves with it. The night had seeped in hours ago, creating an even darker sky lit occasionally by the luminescent moon when it found its way out of the clouds.
I sat on the floor with my back against the wall that separated the driver's area and the rest of the bus. Mikey was laid out on the couch with a hat over his head. Bryan lay opposite of him on the other couch on his phone; the glow casting shadows on his sharp features. Jeremy was slouching at one of the back tables listening to music.
For the past hour I watched Koda and Zach, studying all that they did. Together they lay on the floor in front of the bunk-room doorway. Zach was shirtless, and Koda was in her black and white Bring Me The Horizon shorts and Z's leather jacket. She rested on his stomach, her head facing me, with one arm resting by his ribs. With the other, she felt his bicep with light fingers as he twisted and gently pulled her drying hair all the way to its tips. Her gems were concealed behind a veil of lashes as she relaxed into the sync of her breathe and Zachary's. He had his hand on her shoulder blades and his legs tangled with hers. As they lay there, he looked down at his peaceful Scarlet Ibis. Even though his eyes were half ajar, they still glittered with compassion like expensive diamond rings.
'Jesse James Rutherford, is this really what you want?'
My conscious spoke out of nowhere, interrupting my concentrating stare.
'No.' I said back in my head.
'Don't lie to yourself Jesse James Rutherford. You know you want it. You know you want what you can't have.' it replied spitefully.
I honestly felt as if I were in the middle, between an angel and a demon. It was like I asked a question and immediately they went at arguing the positives and negatives; in constant battle with one another. The devil spoke of sin and the most despicable things while the angel spoke truth.
'Jesse James Rutherford?' the angel asked again. I physically bowed and shook my head with a sigh.
Zach's stomach rose and fell in a long exhale of breath which fluttered Babydoll's hair. He rubbed her back to stir her.
"Come on, let's go to bed." he said as she drew in breath. She flashed her meadow jewels in unison as she looked at Zach a moment then bounded herself out of him. She stood and stretched; her long limbs touching the ceiling, reaching for heaven. Zach ran his hand to her hip, pulling her in for a kiss.
"It's too quiet for you two to try and bone again." Bryan ripped the silence as they started walking toward Zach's bunk.
"Shut up Bryan." Zach said as he and her got in the bed. He wrapped his arms around her while they made-out for a little bit, then she turned over and he pressed the full length of his body into hers. He snuggled into her hair, kissing her shoulder softly and saying words into her ear. Finally, things got silent and I figured they were both sound asleep.
Is this really what I want to ruin?
