I snap my eyes open. I turn to look around, gather my surroundings. I realize I'm sitting in a chair, my wrist aching because I had my head on it. I glance around to see Mikey and Bryan across from me half asleep themselves. Jeremy is next to me, knocked straight out, and on my other side is Jesse. He looks at me and jerks his head out in suggestion to something. I see what his inclinations are about when he stands and we walk out of the waiting room. We pass doctors and the sterile white walls until we reach the elevator where Jes pressed the "P.D" and leans against the wall as it ascends. The elevator comes to a stop eventually, opening its doors to the upperlevel parking deck. Crisp air hits us, tossing Jesse's hair back. We walked past a few cars to the balcony edge where we lean our bodies one the stone-cold railing, looking out over the city.

"I'm happy you were awake." Jesse snaps our silence. "I was beginning to loose it in there." A smirk pulls at the slight laugh lines on his face.

  "Yeah." I say

"Zach," He looks at me, eyebrows furrowed. "What were you dreaming about in there?" Jes halted, waiting, then added. "It kind of worried me because you squeezed your eyes real tight and sometimes you looked like you were.......crying I guess. I mean, your lip quivered, you balled your fists; a lot of things. I was half determined to wake your ass but," he shrugged his thin shoulders. "you just stopped."

I stared at the cars below, letting what he said sink in.

"I.." I started but hit an unpassable wall. "It's hard to explain." I saw him look at me in my peripheral, waiting for me to tell what was hitching me. "I just... went somewhere dark Jesse. So deep and dark. I still feel as if I'm crawling out of it. I can't explain it now but," I looked our vocalist right in his glittering eyes. "I was truly AFRAID. It was so overpoweringly painful. It was like a taste of what would come if.. if I were to.." I looked down at the passing cars, though I didn't see them. My knuckles grew white as my grip in the bar grew fiercely and I leaned forward, wind whipping my face and hair. I squeezed my eyes as the thought white-washed me hard. "If I were to loose her Jesse."

    He breathed.

A moment later he said my name. I looked over at him. He stood, a tall, shadowed figure outlined by the city. His tattoos were faint on his arms, creating black hashes, shapes, and swirls over his pale skin.

"I know."I responded, looking away from him.

Jesse's phone rang. He plucked it from his pocket and answered.

"Hello?" he said. I turned my eyes to other buildings and passing traffic, the lights flickering red, pink, green, yellow neon.

"Okay, we're coming," Jes ended the call the turned to me. "The doctor said we can see her now and they're waiting on us."

I nodded. Then he stepped next to me, placing his flat palm on my shoulder.

"It's gonna be okay Zach." he told me. I faced the floor and nodded, then we began our descent back.
