Jesse's Thoughts

When we got in, there was nothing. No life, no movement. Only a note in the prettiest cursive writing I've ever seen on the counter.

'I went ahead to work since Martin {my boss} said it was okay that I do. My shift ends at two a.m. I'll see you guys when I get back in.

Love,

Koda :}}'

"I didn't even think to look for The Mustang out there when we came in." Zach said as he got some drink from the fridge. "Oh well, I guess it'll be okay."

I went upstairs and into my bedroom. My bed was made evenly and nothing seemed amiss in here. I ripped the covers up to see..

.....nothing.

They were clean. I smelled them and felt faint heat coming off.

"Did she wash your sheets?"

I jumped as Bryan leaned against my dresser.

"Yeah. She did." I walked past him to the bathroom down the hall. I immediately checked the garbage can.

It was empty.

Completely empty.

"Did she take the garbage out too?" Bryan was right on my heels.

"Yeah."

"I'm not lying to you, ya' know."

I looked into the mirror.

"I didn't say you were, and I know you're not. Just.. can you give me a minute?" I asked. He shrugged and left.

Damn. I DID go too far today. I did hurt her.

My mind was racing. It hurt to even think about it. She was crying because I was hurting her. I had her silenced so she wouldn't make noise enough to attract the boys who were home at the time. Even if they were outside waiting on me so we could go to the studio, it could've been anyone who heard us if I didn't. Mikey slipped up on surprise. What if it was someone else? What if it was Jeremy? Or Bryan?

I shook my head. Bryan still wouldn't tell. His motto about it is that it's our problem to solve, not his to blow up and expose. The BIGGER question would obviously be what it should be: what if it were Zach that came in? If I had let her make noise, he would've known right then and there. By keeping her quiet, I was lucky enough to fool Mikey into thinking I was sleep-talking again.

Unfortunately, my decision had catastrophic results on my Babygirl.

"Fuck." I cussed myself.

"Are you okay Jesse?"

I turned to face a pair of jubilant, glittering brown eyes like my own. Nice brown hair being fixed by a t-shirt wearing male with a feather tattooed on his right forearm.

"Yeah Zach. I'm fine. I just forgot to do something but now I can't remember." I nervously laughed. I peered into the mirror where we both stood, staring at each other and ourselves. His soft, rounded features, pert jawline, smooth, lightly dazzled with freckles skin. The smaller frame, the tender eyes... no wonder she fell in love with him. He was gorgeous, no homo. He was Zach Abels and I was Jesse Rutherford, tied to one another by friendship, a band, and now something he doesn't even know about. I was about to tell him...

"Okay. Well, I hope you remember what it was you were trying to remember." he flashed me his pearly whites. "I'm gonna go watch TV."

He left and I sighed. "Oh shit."

With nothing better to do, I decided I'd join him. I went out of the bathroom and was about to trot the steps when I heard my name being called from one of the rooms.

"Over here stupid." I found Bryan in Koda's room, looking at something. "Look at this."

"Koda's sketchpad." I said, running my fingers over the binds.

"Flip the page to your left."

I did and read something that had today's date on it and time that dates back two hours or so ago. About the time Bryan saw her or a little there after.

"I guess you know what this means." Bryan looked at me with his big eyes.

'Guilt happens. But living with it with a way a way to stop it shouldn't.'

"It's over." I said after reading it.

"It is my friend.

It is."
