I got up the next morning and got ready. (I wore a blue sweater with some black jeans and my blue Nikes.) As I walked out of the apartment, untangling my headphones, I heard Andrew up on the balcony.
"Hey babe!" He yelled. I turned to look up at him as he waved.
"Hey." I smiled then remembered something. "Hey, I need you to pick me up this evening."
"Why?" He yelled back.
"Because!" I responded. "I'm taking my bike to Brad's and he's gonna take me to work from there!"
"Why doesn't he pick you up?"
"He's got things he has to do Andrew. You have to remember he works two jobs!" I responded, on immediate defense for my best guy-friend.
"Well has it ever occurred to you that maybe I have things to do too?" He lulled his arms around in the air.
Oh come on.......
"Okay well, whatever." I said. "I'll figure out a way home then."
I denied Andrew the chance to respond to me; I put my helmet on and started up the bike. Why in the hell does he have to be so snappy? And what could he possibly have to do? His part-time job only needs him a few days a week and today isn't one of those days. I rolled backwards then pulled around the circle to the stop sign, looking for traffic. A black Mercedes drove up to the gate, so I rolled out behind it and waited until I could leave out of the gated community. Once out I pressed play on my music and darted down and around the road headed to dance.
Couldn't quite see what the future held
But as days went by it would tell itself
Let it struggle just a little bit more
Let it struggle just a little bit more.
It was then I decided...
We've had a little too much struggling. I'd either have to
give IT up or give up.
