Liv was sleeping soundly in her room when the New York sunshine hit her window peeking through her curtains. She had one eye half open as she pulled the covers up turning her body away from the light. The clock hit 7:30am and her alarm went off playing Unbreakable Smile by Tori Kelly.
"Five more minutes" She groaned under the covers hitting the snooze button. Five minutes later it went off again and she hit the off button this time and pulled herself out of bed, yawning and stretching before going to her bathroom to pee. She brushed her teeth and washed her face before showering. She showered quickly before getting dressed, wearing a white shirt with blue slacks, blue heels, blue blazer with her hair pinned up in a slick pony. She walked out of her room and down the hallway only to knock and enter another room. After she heard nothing from the knocking, she cracked the door open half-way with her hand on the knob leaning against it.
"Mina...Mina" She smiled walking into the room bending down gently shaking her.
"Mina, honey wake up" Olivia kissed her hair stroking it as her daughter's beautiful hazel eyes slowly opened.
"There she is" Olivia crooned.
"Good morning mommy" The little girl said tiredly. Olivia planted a wet kiss on her face making her giggle.
"Good morning mama's baby!"
"I'm not a baby mom, I'm five!" Jamina whined as her mother narrowed her brows at her not taking her seriously.
"Not a baby huh? Hmm, can you pay your own bills?"
"No"
"Buy your own food and clothes?"
"No" Her daughter said as she started to ask herself where this conversation was headed to.
"Drive yourself to school and take mommy to work?"
"Uh-uh mommy" Jamina shook her head back and forth as her mom poked her nose.
"Then you're still a baby, and you'll always be momma's baby no matter how old you get, you got it?" Olivia asked her child.
"Yes momma I got it"
"Good, now Ms. Five-year-old I need you to get up and brush your teeth and wash your face and get ready for school. When your done come downstairs to eat breakfast" She directed her.
"Can I have strawberries with my French toast today instead of apples? Oooo oranges too! Please?" Her daughter claimed poking her lip out. Olivia rolled her eyes at the back of her head playfully at her child's charm. She knew exactly where she got it from too.
"You bet love-bug now get up and go brush your teeth" She patted her leg getting off the bed pulling her up before leaving her room. Jamina sat up in her bed rubbing her eyes before heading to her bathroom to brush her teeth. Twenty minutes had passed, and Olivia was in the kitchen cooking up French toast and cutting fruit for her daughter while watching the news. The house she bought was big enough for just the two of them, but her daughter insisted that there be a tv in every room, including the kitchen excluding the dining table. Olivia had one cardinal rule in her house and that was no tv or phones at the dinner table or during family time. Any other occasion was fine with her. She was looking down as she cut thin slices of strawberries on her cutting board putting them on a plate as the toast sizzled slowly in the pan while listening carefully to the weather channel.
This week were averaging into the low 70's and 80's, light humidity and an few cloudy days towards the end of the week, folks sa-
"Kaay that's enough of that for one day"
Liv grabs the remote flipping through the channels growing bored of hearing about the weather. She flipped through stopping on ESPN. She only watched this channel for news about her brother and to secretly keep tabs on his best-friend but other than that, she had no interest. Her brother Jordan had got drafted a year after college into the NFL and recently had been relocated to a team in Los Angeles. She was proud of her brother and loved seeing him walk into his destiny plus Jamina loved watching her uncle on the big screen. She walked over to the stove flipping the toast twice before placing them on her daughters plate along with the fruit. He looked in the fridge for a juice box as Jamina came running down the stairs.
