I Will Remember You

Tragedy

The tears endlessly dropped from Kia's face as she walked through the halls of the hospital. Her mind flashed to the call made to her not even an hour ago:

"Is this Kia Williams?"

"Yes this is she, who am I speaking with?"

"This is Dr. Reynard from New Bridge Medical, we have an Olivia Baker here with us, is that your sister?" Kia gulped as the other side of the call grew silent.

"Ma'am, is she your sister?"

"Ye-yes she is, wha-whats' going on?" Kia asked with her voice shaky.

"There's been an accident and you were the first person on her emergency call list. I need you to come down and fill out some paperwork for us"

"Is she okay?! What happened?! Is-"

"Listen I will fill you in once you get here, but she along with the other two are still unconscious"

"Other two what other two?!"

"Ms. Kia, please don't make me answer these questions over the phone, just come please, your sister needs you, and so does your niece" Kia's eyes were filled to the brim with fresh tears as she tried to get an word out.

"Ok...I'll be there as soon as I can" She lowly whispered hanging up before calling the one person she knew would be just as devastated as she was.

"Jordan...baby, I need you to meet me somewhere, there's been an accident..."

Kia wiped the tears from her face as she finally reached the front desk.

"Hi, can I help you?"

"Umm, I'm looking for Olivia Baker's room?"

"It's okay Amy, I got her" Kia turned her tearful expression over to the doctor who was walking towards her.

"You must be Kia, I'm Dr. Reynard, we spoke earlier over the phone"

"Yes of course hi, thanks for the call" The women shook hands while the doctor tried not to notice Kia's tear-stained face and her bloodshot eyes.

"It was my pleasure" Kia nodded dreading the answer to her next question.

"So....please tell me what happened" Dr. Reynard rubbed her hands together as she set her clipboard in the nook of her arm.

"There was an accident, car collision, and according to the police report, your sister's car slid off the bridge and into the lake underneath it. The car had sunk all the way to the bottom once the paramedics got everyone out" Kia bit her nails then grabbed ahold of her shoulder an bit floored.

"What do you mean everybody?" The doctor gave her a sympathetic nod and look.

"She wasn't alone, there were two others in the car, Jamina Baker James and...a uh, Spencer James, do any of those sound familiar?" Spencer and Jamina were in the car, oh my God. This can't be happening right now.

"Yeah, that's my niece and her father. Wait, she was driving the both of them?" Kia grilled her trying to get as much information from her as possible.

"No actually she wasn't driving.... actually, the man was..."

"How is he?"

"Still unconscious, him and your sister were hit pretty badly, few broken ribs, possibly concussions, both of their heads were all bandaged up when they arrived, if they hadn't been wearing seatbelts, all three of them would've died on impact" Kia froze at the mention of that word. Death. She couldn't imagine that, and she surely wasn't trying to.
