"How you holding up son?"
Laura sounded to Jordan over the phone. It had been two weeks since the accident and Spencer, nor Liv or Jamina were awake yet. Between Kia and Jordan, they were getting daily visits. Kia would spend half of her day handling things at the office then come straight to the hospital for check-ins on Liv, and Mina. Jordan did the same with practice and after practice was done, he would drive straight to the hospital to see his sister, his niece, and his brother, and best-friend, Spencer. The night of the accident, Spencer suffered from an seizure and it caused an little bruising and swelling to his brain, the doctors have been trying to get the swelling down with the hopes that he can finally wake up. As for Liv and Jamina, they both had slipped into an coma, Liv's consequence after suffering from an stroke. Jamina's body temperature had been up and down for the past few weeks they were there, her vitals had become stable for an few days then dropped back down. Doctors have been able to keep it down but she still wasn't breathing on her own which Kia and Jordan felt very discouraged by.
Throughout the weeks of them being hospitalized they were trying their best to keep it together but each day that passed with no progress, only made them worry even more. As an duo, Kia and Jordan spent this time calling the people they needed to about the news. Darnell had came down to see Spencer and was an complete wreck and hasn't been able to come back since. Laura and Billy were stuck travel wise so they couldn't come to town as quickly as they wanted to so Jordan just kept them up to date as much as he could. Patience tried to convince Coop to fly out to New York to see them but she refused and told Kia, she can't see Liv, Mina, or Spencer in that state. Kia was able to contact Trey and let him know about Liv and he assured her he'd be back up after making arrangements for his mom, and that situation didn't look so good either. Jordan breathed heavily as the sounds of his mother's voice soothed him a little.
"I'm good ma"
"Liar, wanna run that by me again?" She called him out for downplaying his true feelings about everything that was going on.
"I'm miserable mom, the doctors have been working left and right and they still haven't woken up. I just reconnected with Spencer not too long ago and him and Liv are looking like they are embarking on an journey into forever and then there's Mina. My beautiful niece, so little, so young, so innocent, there's so much I want to do with her. What if I can't? What-" Laura broke his sentence from forming.
"Don't say that Jordan, don't even think that right now. I know, things are...unsettling and unsure and up in the air, but if there's one thing that I know for sure, is how..." Her speech started to crack as she lifted her head up to the ceiling trying to conceal the tears that were waiting to be released. Billy walked over to his wife resting his hand on her shoulder and she gripped it tightly as her eyes closed. She breathed slowly before she began again.
"One thing I know for sure is how strong your sister is, and my granddaughter is just the same because she was raised by her. It might take some time, but I truly believe...they will pull through, Spencer too"
"He's my best-friend, that's my bro-ther, my twin, my other half....how can I go on without either of them??"
"You won't ha-ave t-oo" Laura was speaking barely below a whisper stumbling to get her words out before the tears started and Jordan followed not too far behind. The mother and son sobbed together, trying to comfort each other in this time of need. Billy took the phone from Laura's shaky hands, placing it on speaker so Jordan could still hear and wrapped his arms fully around her. She cradled herself into his chest as Kia turned her head seeing Jordan was in tears.
"Patience, let me call you back" She hung up quickly running to his side, pulling him into her arms. Their loud cries were in sync as they were both being comforted by their significant others.
