Spencer and Olivia were in the car driving back to Olivia's house after their first of many sessions with Dr. Spears. It was dead quiet in the vehicle while Spencer drove down the road. Spencer was mute ever since Olivia's pregnancy bomb was dropped during the session. Olivia's head was turned to the window, while Spencer had one hand on the wheel making a turn. Olivia's hands fumbled in her lap as she built up the courage to break the silence between them.
"You haven't said a word to me since we left the office" Spencer glanced her way sighing.
"Is it because of the baby I tri- "He cut her off placing his palm on top of her hand.
"It's not about that Liv, I just...it's just a lot, the session was a lot and you kinda caught me...off guard with that" Olivia threw him a sympathetic look with her head down.
"I'm sorry, it caught me by surprise too, but after everything, I just want to be as transparent with you as possible" Spencer had pulled up to a stop softening his eyes to her as she had her head down still playing with her hands. He lifted his finger pressing her chin up to look at him.
"Hey, I get why you waited, what matters is you told me, now stop beating yourself up about it. I just need a second to catch up to you, okay?" She nods as the light turns green and he drives straight through as she leaned back in her seat.
"Did they tell you how far along you are?"
"Dr. Reynard said between 6-10 weeks but since I haven't really been keeping up with my monthly cycle dates, she can only provide an estimate right now. She said she should be able to give me a number during my first official appointment"
"When's your first appointment?" He asks simply creasing the wheel turning another corner.
"Next week"
"What time?" Olivia turned her head smiling at his eagerness, though he was trying his best to be subtle about it.
"9am"
"Okay," Spencer says putting the car in park turning off the engine. Olivia glanced around her window seeing they were now at a local restaurant, raising her eyebrows to him.
"What are we doing here Spence, thought you was taking me home?"
"Pregnant women gotta eat right?" Spencer grinned as she laughed a little before they both made their way out of the car and into the spot. They were now seated at the table looking over the menus.
"What you got a taste for?" Olivia narrowed her eyes at the choices shaking her head.
"There's so much to choose from, but I'll let you know when I make a decision"
"Okay woman, take your time" He jokes.
"I will, we can't be here for long though, Mina's gonna be out of school soon"
"We got two hours for that, pick her up after we finish, don't worry," Spencer assured as Olivia smiles shifting her eyes back to the menu when she pointed at something that piqued her interest.
"Ookay this looks good"
After lunch, the two parents went to pick up their daughter from school. Mina was walking out of the doors with her bestie Mia.
"Are you any better best?"
"I feel fine Mia, the doctors told me I heal up fast, guess I get that from my daddy"
"Speaking of your dad, how is him and your mom doing?"
"Mia, I'm a 6-year-old child, smart as ever, but they don't tell me anything, so your guess is just as good as mine. House feels different without my dad not around so often though" Mina says in a sad tone. Mia rubbed her shoulder as they continued walking. The two little girls switched subjects until Mia spotted her parents.
