𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞'𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 had been good. Mr and Mrs Harrington were away for the weekend, allowing for him to host a huge party. Nearly everyone in his grade had turned up, along with students from other grades. People had stayed until the early hours of the morning, even Cindy, who'd been reluctant to come to start with.

The only person that hadn't enjoyed themselves as much as they should have, was Lily. She and Paul had been on bad terms all week and this had escalated into a fight at the party. Paul had gone home early as a result and, not wanting to take any attention away from Steve, Lily had taken herself up to one of the bedrooms to calm down.

It was now four in the morning and everyone but Lily had left. She and Steve were in the kitchen, sharing a bottle of vodka. Both of them were very much wasted.

From his seat at the table, Steve looked up at Lily, who was perched on the edge of the kitchen counter, "How come you didn't you tell me you and Paul had a fight?"

Lily frowned, "Crap, I was hoping you wouldn't find out".

"Tommy told me. He saw the whole thing" Steve replied, "You should have just told me, Lil".

"I didn't wanna burden you with it, not on your birthday" She shrugged, "I was gonna tell you tomorrow, promise".

"Paul's an asshole" Was Steve's response.

Lily rolled her eyes, "I had realised that, Stevie boy".

"I'm serious. I don't know why you're still hooking up with him. He's a grade A asshole" He scoffed, "The best thing I did last year was stop being friends with him".

"Well, a girl needs some action every now and then" Lily replied, "And Paul's hot, I don't care if he's a grade A asshole. We both know we only use each other for sex".

Steve took the bottle from her and took a swig from it, "It's a good arrangement you have. I'm kinda jealous".

"It's the most committed I'll get with a high school boy" She grinned, "Anything more and it'd be a relationship".

"And God forbid you ever get into one of those" Steve joked, purposefully trying to wind her up.

Lily folded her arms across her chest and intended to sulk, but Don't Stop Me Now started playing quietly on the radio in the background. Forgetting her initial intentions, she immediately leapt off the counter, "I love this song!"
