𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 for teenagers, Skull Rock wasn't located near any roads. The closest was Cornwallis, which was a fifteen minute walk away. So, leaving Nancy's car parked near the Henderson house, the group ventured into the woods on foot. Lily, Dustin, and Steve were leading, while the others lingered behind.
Once again, Steve had asked Lily to recount what had happened to her the night they were at the Creel House. "So, did you feel any different before you went into Vecna's mind? Like, did you get a headache or something?" He hadn't explained why, but she knew he wanted to know every specific detail, in case there was something they may be missing. Something that could help keep Vecna away.
"No, I felt completely normal" She said, shaking her head.
"And how are you feeling now?"
"As good as I can feel" She replied, "But I've not got a headache and I haven't had a nosebleed since last night, if that's what you mean" She shrugged, and then, when both boys gave her a pitying look, she added, "Oh, don't give me that look, guys. There's nothing we can do".
"We'll figure it out".
Lily looked unconvinced, "I guess all I can do is listen to Queen and hope Freddie Mercury can save my ass".
"How come you chose Queen?" Dustin said, curiously, "You don't strike me as a rock kinda person".
Lily shook her head, "I'm not, usually. But it's mine and Steve's song" She paused, "It has been since his birthday a few years ago. That's why I chose it".
"That's very specific".
"Um- Well, it's a very specific memory".
"Yeah, right before we both blacked out".
At this, Lily and Steve exchanged a glance. For the first time in almost four years, they had mentioned Steve's seventeenth birthday. What had happened between them was still a subject that was never spoken about.
"That doesn't surprise me" Dustin said, with a slight air of judgement. Lily was sure he viewed the high school versions of she and Steve as sex-driven binge drinkers.
The younger teen turned his attention back to the map in has hand and Steve took a step closer to Lily, "For the record, I think we definitely hooked up that night".
