Her eyes were glazed over and her body was rigid, almost like she was in a trance. Dustin was shaking her, roughly now, and calling her name, but she still showed no sign of waking.
"Max, wake up!" He exclaimed.
"Hey, Max!" Steve added, "Come on! Max!"
While the boys were trying to awaken Max from whatever trance she was in, Lily grabbed Dustin's radio from the desk, "Robin, Nancy, where the hell are you?!"
"On our way to the school, you told us-" Robin began.
"Well, hurry up! There's something wrong with Max!"
"What do you mean? Is she okay?"
"I don't know. Just get over here, fast" Lily replied, and she turned the radio off before the girls could ask any more questions. However, just then, Max suddenly let out a gasp, snapping out of the trance she had been in.
"Holy shit, Max!" Dustin exclaimed, "Are you okay?"
Max looked around at them, her eyes wide with fear. After a short silence, she stuttered, "Where's the clock?"
"Clock?" Lily frowned, "What clock?"
But, before Max could answer, the office door flew open and Nancy and Robin burst into the room, looking flustered. "What happened? Is Max okay?" Robin panted.
In response, Max led them out into the empty hallway. Then, pointing at a blank wall, she said, "I saw a clock, a grandfather clock. It was right here, I swear. I saw it".
"You saw a clock?" Lily repeated, looking puzzled.
"It was here, right here!" She insisted.
"A grandfather clock?" Nancy frowned.
"It was so real" Max said, sounding increasingly panicked, "And then, when I got closer, I just, woke up suddenly".
"It was like she was in a trance" Dustin explained, "Exactly like what Eddie said happened to Chrissy".
Lily nodded, "She was like frozen or something".
