The gate had been closed a year ago, yet what they had just seen told them otherwise. Steve and Dustin quickly told Robin that they'd seen something similar before, which explained why they all looked pale.
"I don't understand. You've seen this before?" She asked.
"Not exactly" Steve answered.
"Then what, exactly?" Robin pressed, sounding impatient.
"All you need to know is, it's bad" Dustin said.
Steve frowned, "It's really bad".
"It's really really bad" Lily interjected, her pacing coming to a halt, "As in, super mega bad. We're all screwed".
Dustin nodded in agreement, "Like, end of the human race as we know it kind of bad".
Robin looked puzzled, "And you know about this how?"
"Steve?" Came Erica's voice, interrupting them, "Where's your Russian friend?" She said. The Russian soldier was no longer passed out on the floor of the comms room.
They stared at the empty spot on the ground. Then, as if to answer Erica's question, an alarm sounded. The five of the started panicking immediately. Steve looked through the gap in the open door. The soldier in question was talking to someone outside and pointing straight at them.
"Shit" He cursed, slamming it shut, "Go!" He screamed at the others, racing over to grab Lily's hand. The two of them followed Dustin, who had already disappeared through a second door, leading out of the comms room.
Unfortunately for them, the room they'd run into was full of people, all of whom looked extremely confused at the group's presence, "Shit! Go!" Steve yelled, as they ran straight through the room and towards a flight of stairs.
"Jesus!" Lily yelled, as Steve practically yanked her down the stairs, "Jesus!" She repeated, as he continued to pull her along. She stumbled and almost crashed to the floor.
Steve grabbed her before she could fall, "Get up! Come on!" He urged, pulling her upright. They were now a few paces behind the others.
They followed them onto a narrow walkway, which was blocked by a soldier, who was shoved out of the way by a shrieking Dustin, with surprising strength. He then led them through another door. Unfortunately, the door brought them out next to the machine pointing to the Upside Down. The noise of the machine was overwhelming, and so was the rush of air blasting from it.
