She, on the other hand, was spending the day hanging out with Steve and Robin at Family Video. She was sat cross-legged on the floor behind the counter, trying to finish a Biology assignment.

"Robin!" She called to the younger girl, who was across the store, arranging shelves, "Robin! Can you help me?"

"With what?" Robin called back to her.

"Can you check through what I've written so far?"

From where she was sat, she heard Robin put down the videos in her hand and make her way over. She propped her elbows up on the counter and looked down at Lily, amused. "Let me see it" She said, gesturing for the paper.

Lily handed her the assignment and watched as Robin scanned her eyes over it. "Okay-" The younger girl began, now gesturing for Lily's pen, "What you wrote here sounds good, but the bit about genetics doesn't really make sense" She frowned, underlining a small paragraph.

"Yeah, that's the bit I made up" Lily replied, taking the paper back and reading through it again, biting her lip in concentration. She then looked up at Robin expectantly, "I don't suppose you wanna write it for me, do you?"

Robin didn't look impressed, "Wow, deja vu".

"Yeah, except I'm not paying you this time" Lily grinned.

"I'm not gonna write it for you, but I'll help you" She sighed, jumping up onto the counter and swinging her legs over, "So, you see this bit?" She said, and she began to explain everything to Lily, who listened intently.

It didn't take long for Lily to grasp the concept. She was much smarter than she'd been the first time she had been in senior year. She rewrote the incorrect paragraph and had Robin read through it in less than half an hour.

"Steve, your girlfriend's way cleverer than you now" Robin called to Steve, "How does that make you feel?"

"She's always been cleverer than me" Was Steve's dry, slightly sulky response. However, as soon as Lily came over to show him the three page assignment, he kissed the top of her head and said proudly, "That's my girl".

She smiled at him and folded the pages up to fit in the back pocket of her jeans. Although she now had the drive to try hard at school, there were a few habits she hadn't dropped, like shoving her work in her pockets.
