𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 to spend the rest of afternoon getting herself ready for the party. Carol had bunked with her, and the two of them had driven into town to shop for costumes. As usual, Carol had sorted hers weeks ago, and Lily had left hers and Cindy's to the last minute. However, finding an angel and a devil costume was easy, so it didn't take them long.
That evening, Cindy had come over to the Andrews' to get ready. Lily was wearing a red satin dress, devil horns and red sunglasses, while Cindy was wearing a similar dress, but in white, along with a halo. To Lily's relief, Cindy was happy with her costume, and even admitted she wasn't dreading the party as much as she'd thought.
Lily's mom was at the Wheelers' and her father was still at work, while Cindy's parents were in Miami until Monday, so they didn't have to worry about getting caught going to the party. Lily left a note saying she was going to Cindy's to watch a movie, and she pinched a few beers from the basement, then they left for Tina's.
"I can't believe your parents are away again, all they seem to do is travel" Lily laughed, locking the door behind them, "And when you're a lawyer, we can do the same".
Cindy raised her eyebrows, "You really think I'm gonna pay for your vacations as well?"
"Youowe me for the many years of friendship you've had with me" Lily joked, "Twelve years to be exact".
"And you owe me for forcing me to come to this party with you" Cindy retorted, "My shoes are so not comfy".
"Don't worry, the pain goes away once you start drinking" Lily laughed, "That's the key to wearing heels".
Cindy frowned, "I wasn't planning on drinking".
Lily rolled her eyes, "Oh come on, the invite said 'getsheet faced'. It's not like you have to drive home later".
"No, but we have school tomorrow, and unlike you, I don't like skipping class or turning up to them hungover".
"I wasn't gonna skip tomorrow. If I don't go, Mom will work out why, and then I'll be in deep shit with my dad".
"I dunno, I'll see how I feel when we get there".
"Well, come on then" Lily said, grabbing her friends arm, "The sooner we get there, the better".
"I'm up for walking faster, I feel like I'm gonna freeze to death in this dress".
Lily couldn't help but laugh, "We won't freeze to death" She said, "What's with the sudden mood change, Cin? You were all for the party when we were getting ready".
