𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬, Lily managed to perform the routine without making any mistakes and so did the rest of the team, much to her relief. Even Sophie, who she had been most worried about had performed well. Hawkins High had beaten the opposing team, so after the game, the school was full of students making their way over to the parking lot, talking loudly and excitedly about it.
News of Jonathan and the photos had already travelled through the school, presumably thanks to Steve, Tommy, and Carol. To Lily's amazement, even some of the girls on her team knew, before she'd had a chance to tell them.
"I always knew Jonathan Byers was a creep" Chrissy frowned, as she and Lily walked down the hallway after getting changed, "But I didn't think he'd go that far".
"I know right" Lily nodded, "Thanks for helping out with Sophie earlier, by the way. She actually looked alright".
"I do have my uses" Chrissy smiled, "Is your ankle okay after that somersault you did? I saw how you landed".
"I thought no one had seen that" Lily groaned, "Do you think anyone else would have noticed?"
Chrissy shook her head, "No one would have been looking at your feet" She assured her, "Least of all Jason" She added with a grin, "He didn't stop staring at you the whole game".
Lily rolled her eyes, "Don't you start as well, dipshit!"
Then, they turned a corner and Lily was swept off the floor by someone, making her yelp in surprise, "Tommy Hagen, you ass!" She exclaimed, once he'd set her down.
He grinned, "You girls didn't look too bad out there".
"Jesus, even when you're saying something nice you still manage to sound like a creep" Lily laughed.
"I've gotta go" Chrissy said, "Else I'll miss the bus".
Lily nodded, "Okay, see you at practice next week".
Chrissy made off down the hallway and Lily stared after her for a while, "I think I'm gonna make her captain once I go. She's the only one on the team that isn't annoying".
"Yeah, I like her" Tommy smirked, also staring after her.
"She probably ran off cause of your pervy comment" Lily frowned, shoving him, "Where's Carol? Or have you forgotten that you've got a girlfriend?" She said, jokingly.
"She's in detention for calling Mr Taylor a chicken".
"Of course she is" Lily laughed.
By now, the two of them had reached the doors leading out of the school. Steve was waiting just outside, an unlit cigarette hanging from his mouth. He grinned at Lily, "There's the woman of the hour!" He teased, ruffling her hair, which was already looking tousled from the game.
