𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 looked at each other in stunned silence for a moment. Then, Eddie blinked and sprang into action. Within seconds, he'd shoved the tarp away completely and lunged for the person closest to him, which happened to be Steve. He grabbed him by the throat and shoved him up against the wall, strangling him.
It all happened so fast, that it took Lily a moment to register what had happened. "What the hell?!" She exclaimed, taking in the unusual scene in front of her.
Steve looked at her, his eyes wide with a mixture of confusion and panic."Wait, wait!" He protested, struggling against the grip of Eddie's hand.
However, Eddie didn't move. He really seemed set on strangling Steve. It wasn't until Dustin spoke, that he seemed to realise he was in a room full of other people. "Eddie, stop!" Dustin yelled, and Eddie turned to look at him, "Eddie! It's me, Dustin. This is Steve. He's not gonna hurt you, right, Steve?" He said, quickly
"Right, yeah" Steve whispered, nodding vigorously.
"We were in your biology class last year, remember?" Lily added. Steve's face was starting to turn a shade of red, and she thought if Eddie recognised him, he'd let him go.
"Steve, why don't you drop the oar?" Dustin said, slowly.
Steve, who was still holding the oar, let go of it quickly. It hit the floor with a crash. Eddie jumped and tightened his grip around Steve's neck. Not wanting to see her boyfriend suffocate to death, Lily retrieved the oar and aimed it at Eddie, prepared to strike him over the head.
But, before she could hit him, Dustin snatched the makeshift weapon out of her hands. "You're not helping, Lily" He snapped. Then, holding the oar away from her, he turned back to Eddie, "He's cool! Steve's cool" He said.
"I'm cool, man. I'm cool" Steve croaked.
Eddie frowned at him, "What are you doing here?"
"We're looking for you" Dustin answered.
"We're here to help" Robin added, reassuringly.
"Eddie, these are my friends" Dustin continued, gesturing to the others, "You know Robin, from band?" He asked, and Robin imitated a musical instrument, as if trying to help jog Eddie's memory. "This is my friend Max. The one who never wants to play D&D. And the girl that was about to hit you over the head, that's Lily. Prom Queen for four years running, recognise her?" He said, pointing to the girls, "We're on your side. I swear on my mother".
