"So you're Mayor of Storybrooke?" Goldilocks asked. She and Regina spent the majority of the day talking, and catching up, leaving Henry, Emma, Dr Hopper and everyone else confused. The two friends spoke like it had only been a week since they last saw each other.
It was almost six o'clock, and Regina had invited Goldilocks over for dinner, so Emma had drove Regina, Goldilocks and Henry back to Regina's house, and then left, arranging to meet Henry the next day.
Regina made lasagne, and Goldilocks watched, and they talked until eventually Regina asked Henry to show Goldilocks around their home.
Henry lead Goldilocks all around, showing her the bedrooms, dining hall, lounge and the office.
"This is where Regina works?" Goldilocks asked, looking into the office.
"Yep." Henry entered the room and took the backpack off his shoulders. He emptied it into the table, and began to put everything back inside in an orderly manner. Goldilocks noticed his huge story book.
"What's that?" Goldilocks stood next to him and pointed.
Henry looked where she was pointing. "It's my fairytale book," he replied.
"But aren't you sixteen?" Goldilocks asked him.
"Yeah, why?" Henry asked.
Goldilocks carefully flipped the book at a random page. "Well I know what a fairytale is, but aren't you too old for- hey, that's Regina!" Goldilocks pointed to the huge picture displayed. She began to read.
Henry grinned, and went over to Regina's desk, looking for a black pen. He began to test the ink on his hand, but all the pens he picked up were blue.
"Wait, Henry," Goldilocks turned to face him. "Regina is the Evil Queen?"
Henry walked over to the table and looked at the page she was on. It was Regina casting the first dark curse. "Yeah she was. The step mom of Snow White."
"But- what about Cora?" Goldilocks asked.
Henry quickly turned to the right page. "There." He pointed to one of the paragraphs. "Regina pushed her through a looking glass. She was transported to Wonderland."
"And is Cora here?" Goldilocks asked.
"In Storybrooke? No. She was here for a little bit, but she is dead now."
"... Oh," Goldilocks was silent for a few moments.
Henry decided to change the subject. "So you and Regina were friends as kids?" He asked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah," Goldilocks smiled. "Yeah. We were. And Regina is your mother?"
"Yeah," Henry replied, before adding, "well, she actually adopted me when I was born."
"So Emma is your real mother?" Goldilocks corrected herself..
Henry nodded.
"Because I was just wondering who you father was," Goldilocks shrugged. "You live in this big house with Regina, what about her husband? Or Emma's husband," Goldilocks rolled her eyes, still smiling. "Did she marry Daniel the stable boy? I remember how much she fancied him, he was always on her mind!"
"Daniel....died," Henry replied slowly. "Cora killed him."
Goldilocks's eyes widened with shock. "No!!"
Henry nodded. "Regina never married, but she was in a relationship with Robin Hood... But he's dead as well."
Goldilocks's eyes widened. "Regina hasn't exactly been lucky in the boyfriend department."
Henry nodded in agreement. "And my dad, Emma's boyfriend -"
"So your mother and father never got married?" Goldilocks butted in.
"-No," Henry responded.
Goldilocks looked extremely confused. "I thought -never mind," Goldilocks shook her head.
Henry continued. "Anyway, his name was Baelfire, Neal Cassidy in this world. But he died as well."
"Oh, I'm sorry," Goldilocks said.
Henry shrugged.
"I never knew my father," Goldilocks said. "And my mother died too."
"Sorry," Henry commented.
Goldilocks looked at him, and shrugged too.
Suddenly Regina's voice came from downstairs, telling them dinner was ready. Goldilocks and Henry went downstairs, and into the dining room, where Regina had laid out the lasagne.
"So Goldilocks," Regina said after they all sat down. "On a serious note, where did you actually go when Cora pushed you through that portal?"
Goldilocks paused for a moment. "Well, Cor- The Queen didn't exactly push me through. She just made the portal and I fell through."
"Yeah, but where did you go?" Regina asked again.
Goldilocks didn't want to tell them. She didn't want to tell anyone where she had been for nearly forty years. A part of her knew she should, but Goldilocks knew she couldn't.
"I don't really want to talk about it... But I was a mermaid for a little while," Goldilocks said.
"A mermaid?" Henry asked. "Do you know Ariel?"
"The mute mermaid? The ginger one?" Goldilocks asked. "Yeah. I have met her, but it was only once. We didn't exactly talk much... Well, we wouldn't have talked, because she couldn't!"
Regina laughed softly. "But it is really good to see you again, after all these years."
Goldilocks smiled back. "I know. I really missed you. But I'm not too impressed that you're taller then I am," Goldilocks said to Regina, folding her arms, and Regina and Henry both laughed.
They finished their dinner, and had ice cream for desert. Goldilocks had never had ice cream before, so Regina gave her one small scoop of every flavour they had in the freezer. Goldilocks ate, and announced her two favourite flavours were chocolate and strawberry.
"Goldilocks, do you want to stay here tonight?" Regina and. "We can quickly sort out one of the spare rooms for you?"
"That is very kind of you, but I do still have my room at Granny's Bed and Breakfast."
Regina nodded. "That's okay. How about we meet somewhere tomorrow?"
Goldilocks bit her lip. "I'm sorry, but I arranged to meet Dr Hopper. We're going to walk our dogs along the beach."
"Oh." Regina looked slightly disappointed, but then smiled. "Maybe another time then?"
Goldilocks nodded. "Definitely!"
Regina grabbed her car keys. "I'll drive you back to Granny's if you like?"
Goldilocks smiled. "Sure. Thanks."
