Once Upon A Time: Goldilocks comes to Storybrooke

Chapter 26

Now everyone knew who Goldilocks was, she fitted into Storybrooke really well. Everyone she met greeted her with a smile, she got a whole new wardrobe of modern clothes, she had her room at Granny's Bed and Breakfast half price (with a little help from Regina) and even started to attend the school with Henry.

She only went to the school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but she was in the same class as Henry for everything! And when she came back from school she would either go to see Regina, or Belle, or Ruby, or take Pongo and Perdita for a walk with Dr Hopper.

However, two weeks later, one Saturday, she got a huge surprise...

She and Perdita were waiting for Dr Hopper to arrive. Goldilocks was dressed in a blue skirt and a light grey top decorated with love hearts. Whilst she was waiting for Dr Hopper, Goldilocks saw Captain Hook, and he let her take a look around his ship.

"It's extraordinary," Goldilocks breathed as she ran her hand along the huge steering wheel.

"I once taught Henry's father how to steer this ship," Captain Hook told her. "I tried to teach Henry, but he nearly crashed it twice!"

"Really!?"

"Indeed he did, love. But I suppose that wasn't as bad as the time David wanted to be a cool Grandfather, and tried to teach Henry to drive."

"He did what!?"

"Exactly! Emma wasn't too pleased."

"I'm not surprised," Goldilocks laughed.

"Goldilocks," Captain Hook said, taking a step towards her. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry, about Peter Pan."

Goldilocks paused for a moment. "That's okay," she replied. "He was kind, and nice to me, but he did lie."

Captain Hook nodded. "Aye. I actually ran into him once, and I ended up working for him."

"You did?" She asked.

"Aye. He probably didn't tell you, but I sailed around Neverland's waters on The Jolly Rodger and - "

"Oh, that was you!?" Goldilocks asked. "Peter did tell me about some pirates who worked for him once, but I thought he was talking about Blackbeard and his crew!"

"Oh, him?" Captain Hook asked, unimpressed.

Goldilocks raised her eyebrows. "I'm guessing you don't get along with Blackbeard?"

"Definitely not," Captain Hook said. "He stole my ship from me several times!"

Goldilocks smiled. Just then she saw Dr Hopper and his pet dog walking down to the docks. "There's Dr Hopper. I have to go now, but thank you for letting me see your ship!"

"Anytime," Captain Hook grinned. "If you see Emma, tell her I'll be round at her house at about seven tonight to watch Netflix."

"What's a Netflix?" Goldilocks asked. "Wouldn't that be boring? Just sitting down and looking at it?"

"No, it's something on the TV," Captain Hook explained.

"Oh, on that box with moving pictures?" Goldilocks remembered her conversation with Ruby.

"Aye," Captain Hook smiled. "Oh, and Goldilocks?"

Goldilocks turned around to face him. "Yes?"

"Just, if you ever need to talk to anyone, about Peter, you can always talk to me. I know what you've been through."

Goldilocks nodded. "Thank you."

Goldilocks jumped off the huge boat and walked to Dr Hopper with Perdita. "Hello!" She smiled.

"Georgia - I mean, Goldilocks" he replied. "Erm, can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Yes, of course!" Goldilocks answered, and they sat down on a bench, and the dogs sat down in front of them.

"You see Goldilocks. I was thinking about it last night," he began. "And I had an idea. Now, it's alright if you say no, I will completely understand. But Regina thinks it's alright, and Emma agrees - "

"What is it?" Goldilocks asked.

"I was thinking - " Dr Hopper began. "Maybe I - well... I think -" he suddenly became nervous, and took off his glasses to polish them.

"Do you want to ask me later?" Goldilocks asked, sensing that he was scared.

"Not at all, I'll do it now - " Dr Hopper put his glasses in and spoke. "I was wondering, would you like to be adopted?"

Goldilocks fell silent. "What?" She asked.

"Only if you want to!" Dr Hopper said hurriedly. "But I was thinking maybe I could adopt you? I have a spare room in my apartment, and you could decorate it how you wanted and - "

"Dr Hopper, I would love that!!" She cried.

"Really?" Dr Hopper was taken back.

"Yes!!" Goldilocks said excitedly.

Dr Hopper smiled, relieved. "I'll get right on the paper work. If all goes smoothly you'll be adopted by next week."

"Awesome!" Goldilocks smiled, but then stopped, lost her smile and looked down.

"What's wrong?" Dr Hopper asked. Was Goldilocks having second thoughts?

Goldilocks looked up again. "So do I call you 'Dad' now?"

Dr Hopper laughed. "Yes. I supposed you can!"
