Once Upon A Time: Goldilocks comes to Storybrooke

Chapter 50

"Are you sure I can go?" Merida asked Goldilocks as they stood on the docks of Storybrooke. It was the day Merida was meant to go back to Scotland to find her family and explain what happened all those years ago.

"Of course I am," Goldilocks replied, sticking her hands in her jeans pockets. "You need to go find your mother and father, and Hubert, Harry and Hamish!"

"But...with everything that's going on - with Rodger and - I'm wondering if I should stay a little bit longer," Merida looked back at Storybrooke.

"Merida," Goldilocks grabbed her cousins arm. "I think you've kept your family waiting long enough, you don't have to worry about me. I have Regina, Emma, Henry and everyone else."

"But I am your cousin - " Merida started, but Goldilocks stopped her.

"Merida, I refuse for you to put your life on hold for me. I'm literally commanding you to go back to Scotland to find your parents!"

Merida laughed softly. "You were always the bossy one out of us two," she remarked.

Goldilocks put her hand on her chest and pretended to look offended. "Bossy? Me!?"

"And the joker too!" Merida laughed and Goldilocks laughed laughed too. The cousins hugged.

"You'll have to write to me," Goldilocks said.

"Write?" Merida repeated, pulling away from the hug. "I won't need to write, I'll be coming back!"

Goldilocks smiled sadly. "I appreciate that, but your home isn't here. You belong in Scotland, with your family."

"But you're also a member of my family! Why not come with me to Scotland? We can escape from Rodger, and this crazy land!"

Goldilocks sighed. "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I have to stay here."

"Then I will convince my parents to move to Storybrooke," Merida nodded.

"Merida, it's been over thirty years since Regina's curse, and you were turned into a bear many, many years before that" Goldilocks explained.

"That doesn't matter, I will explain to my family, and then get them to see sense." Merida playfully shoved Goldilocks. "Have a little faith, will you!?"

Goldilocks laughed, and pushed her cousin back.

"Though I still think it's weird that we're now the same age," Merida commented.

"Really?" Goldilocks questioned.

Merida nodded. "Because I can no longer boss you around," she grinned.

"And you were just calling me bossy!" Goldilocks complained, with a massive smile spread on her face.

The two girls laughed, and hugged once more. Then they looked onto The Jolly Rodger, where Emma and Captain Hook were saying their goodbyes.

Goldilocks reached into her pocket and brought out a small glass bottle with a cork in the neck. Inside the bottle there was half the content of the magic dust Mr Gold had given them.

"Once you get back to Scotland, the portal will not be open for long, you'll either have to convince your parents to come here quickly on Captain Hook's ship, or you'll have to find another way back."

Goldilocks pressed the bottle into Merida's hand. Merida turned the bottle over in her hand, and nodded. "Thanks Goldilocks."

Captain Hook and Emma walked towards them, hand in hand. "Ready to go?" Captain Hook asked Merida.

"Yes, I am," Merida took a deep breath and nodded.

Goldilocks and Merida hugged one more time.

"Bye Merida," Goldilocks whispered.

"See you later." Merida and Goldilocks pulled away from each other, and Merida jumped into the ship, Captain Hook following her.

Emma stood next to Goldilocks, and Captain Hook steered the ship away from the docks. Merida waved, and Emma and Goldilocks waved back. Goldilocks watched until the boat was very far out to sea. She saw Merida walk over to Captain Hook, and hand him something. Then Captain Hook threw the little glass bottle over-board and into the water.

Suddenly a portal was created in the sea, and Captain Hook steered the ship right into it. It looked like the ship was sinking, but Goldilocks knew it wasn't. Once the ship had completely sunken beneath the waves Emma and Goldilocks began to walk away from the docks.

"Are you okay?" Emma asked Goldilocks.

"Yeah. Yeh I'm fine, thank you." Goldilocks looked up to face Emma.

"I'm sure you'll see Merida again," Emma nodded confidently.

Goldilocks nodded back. "Yeah... Now come on, let's go find Rodger. We have to get him to fall through a portal to Arendelle...and we have to do it fast."

And they ran back into Storybrooke.
