Once Upon A Time: Goldilocks comes to Storybrooke

Chapter 54

Rodger knew how to throw a punch, and Dr Hopper knew how to shield himself against injury.

However, both of them had ended up injured in the fist fight.

Rodger had immediately attempted to punch Dr Hopper, but he had replied by ducking, before giving Rodger a big shove.

Rodger stumbled back and grabbed Dr Hopper and pull him down too. Dr Hopper then kicked Rodger in the stomach, causing Rodger to let go off him and fall down alone. However, Rodger then grabbed Dr Hoppers legs, causing him to fall over. (All of this happened in the space of about ten seconds.)

Emma used her magic to soundly knock both the men out. Henry called David to tell him what had happened and Emma called Dr Whale.

Goldilocks stood there in shock for a few moments; she had waited so long for a chance to have a father, and now she had two fighting over her!!

David came and managed to get both unconscious men into his van and drove to the hospital, meeting Dr Whale halfway there. Then Dr Whale and his fellow doctors and nurses carried both men on stretchers into the hospital van.

Emma, Henry and Goldilocks got into Emma's yellow car to make their own way to the hospital.

Dr Hopper and Rodger were put in separate wards and one nurse tended to their wounds. Rodger had received a massive bruise all the way down his back due to the fall, and Dr Hopper had a severely scratched wrist from when Rodger grabbed him and a massive cut on the side of his leg from his fall.

Emma, Goldilocks, Henry, David, Mary Margaret and Ruby waited together in the waiting room, sat in silence. Goldilocks was sat next to Ruby and across from Henry. Goldilocks and Henry would frequently make eye contact, but it would last two seconds, before someone looked away.

After about fifteen minutes David went to get some coffee for all the grown ups and Ruby announced she would call Regina to let her know Henry was safe.

"I'm sure your father - father's will be alright, Goldilocks," Mary Margaret said reassuringly to Goldilocks.

"Hmm," Goldilocks nodded, staring down into her hands.

Another ten minutes passed, and Emma went to check if Dr Hopper or Rodger were awake. She came back, biting her lip anxiously.

"Goldilocks, Rodger is awake," she said. "You don't have to go see him, I just thought you should know."

Goldilocks thought for a moment. "No," she stood up. "No, I'll go see him."

Emma held the door open and Goldilocks walked into the ward on the right. Rodger was sat up in bed, arms crossed, a grim expression on his face as he stared at the wall.

"Hi?" Goldilocks entered the ward. She didn't know whether to call him 'Rodger' or 'Dad'.

He turned his head, and at once his facial expression softened. "Georgia, hey."

Goldilocks cautiously walked over to the bed, twiddling her fingers. "How's your back?"

"Much better, thank you," Rodger replied. "I have a massive bruise, though."

"Oh," Goldilocks answered, not really knowing what to say. She didn't exactly want to make any awkward conversation. "I - "

"I know what you're going to say," Rodger said. "You want me to tell you where I've been all these years, and why I never came back to you and your mother."

"... Well it would be nice to know," Goldilocks nodded slowly.

"Yes, I know," Rodger agreed. "I did want to come back to see you, Georgia, I really did. The boat in the shop wreck, I was meant to be on that ship, but I stayed in Arendelle, because one of my friends was really sick, and I wanted to make sure she got better."

"She?" Goldilocks repeated.

"Her names Molly. She's a lovely woman, found herself a bloke called Russell. He's a great guy."

Goldilocks sighed, relieved that Rodger hadn't stayed in Arendelle because he fell in love with another woman.

"Anyway, A few years later there was a boat ride to The Enchanted Forest, lead by the King and Queen of Arendelle. I went with them, and the boat got caught in a storm."

"And they died?" Goldilocks asked.

Rodger nodded slowly. "The King and Queen were a lovely couple. They had two daughters of their own, who I think you could have been good friends with."

"Elsa and Anna?" Goldilocks asked.

"Yes, how did you know this names?" Rodger raised an eyebrow.

"I just - err - Emma told me about them," Goldilocks said slowly. Goldilocks hadn't lied to her real Dad, but she actually knew (and had met) Anna before she came to Storybrooke.

"Everyone died on the boat except me," Rodger carried on explaining. "I fell unconscious, and washed up in a realm called Oz. There I met a man called Will Scarlet, and we traded. I used my magic to make him a new sword, and in return he gave me a magic bean-"

"A portal," Goldilocks nodded. "Yeah, I've used one before, to get to Storybrooke. Well, two, if you count the time with Cora."

"I went back to The Enchanted Forest using the bean," Rodger told her. "I found our cottage and I entered, ready to explain anything to your mother. But the cottage was empty, and it looked like the cottage had been abandoned for several years. I went around the back and saw - " suddenly Rodger was unable to speak.

"The grave?" Goldilocks whispered.

Rodger nodded, and closed his eyes. "I saw Anita's grave, and I thought you were dead too." He slowly began to shake, as if he was going to cry. "Anita had died, not knowing that I was actually alive, and I thought you has died not knowing your father." He put his head in his hands and took a few shaky breaths.

Goldilocks waited for a few moments, feeling a slight pang of sympathy for Rodger. "Then what did you do?"

Rodger removed his hands from his face, his eyes slightly red. "I went back to Arendelle, but they thought I was dead too, due to the shipwreck. So I lived as a commoner, until the Thirty Year Freeze."

"The what!? Thirty years!?" Goldilocks asked. "Freeze as in ice!?"

Rodger nodded.

Goldilocks shuffled her feet awkwardly. "Hold on - I actually went to Arendelle, but Anna said she didn't know you..."

"And she wouldn't," Rodger explained. "As a child Anna had her memories removed, she had all memories of magic removed from her, so she forgot my first meeting with her, when I showed her and her older sister magic."

"Wow," Goldilocks whispered.

"I did come back to The Enchanted Forest for you Goldilocks, I promised I did."

Goldilocks nodded. "I believe you," she reassured him, however she didn't know if that was true just yet. "But - I'm going to have to go now - "

"Yes, of course," Rodger motioned to the door. "You should go."

Goldilocks left the ward without another word.

She went back into the waiting room, where she saw Emma talking to a nurse. Goldilocks was about to sit down again, but Emma beckoned her over, a smile on her face.

"Goldilocks, Dr Hopper is awake," she said.

Goldilocks's eyes immediately darted to the ward Dr Hopper was in. "Can I go see him?"

Emma nodded and held open the door for Goldilocks.
