Chapter 46: Only One Version of Events is Ever True

The group had met up with Mammon. Lucifer, who was in Satan's body, glared at him. "Let's hear it."

Mammon was confused. What did he mean? He saw Ivy's expression of hope and wondered what had happened. He turned back to Lucifer. "Whaddya mean let's hear it?!"

Satan, who was in Lucifer's body, eyed him with suspicion. "What did you do this time, Mammon?"

"I told ya, nothin'!"

A man suddenly shouted. "He killed her! He killed that woman!"

A woman nodded with a furious look. "That's right! He stabbed her with a knife!"

Another man turned to the six. "Hey, you six. Are you with this man?!"

Ivy turned to him. "Yes, we are."

Avalon nodded with Maria. Satan shook his head. "Well, I'm not, personally..."

Lucifer also spoke up. "Neither am I. I've never seen him before in my life."

Mammon looked at them, hurt. "HEY! You two are EVIL, ya know that?! So Ivy and her family are the only ones who'll stand up for me?! Seriously?!"

"Honestly, you're like a magnet for trouble. Everywhere you go, it follows. You need to stop this..."

"Stop what?! Like, I'm just an innocent bystander here!"

Ivy and Avalon furrowed their eyebrows. "Yes! Exactly!"

Maria blinked before turning to their father. "Did they just...?"

Zach's eyes stared down at her. "Say something at the same time? Yes, yes they did."

"Twins..."

"Indeed."

Satan glared at Mammon. "Well, in any event, you'd better tell us what happened... and start at the beginning."

Mammon sighed. "... I heard there was a car on the train where you could go eat, so I went lookin' for it! I was gonna take some pictures and then show them to Beel later. You know, to brag. But then..."

Mammon blinked along with the three who followed him. Mammon piped up. "Eh...? Wait... is this a dead end? Nah, couldn't be... Oh hey, there's a sign here. Let's see... 'No admittance. This car has been reserved for a private party'. What, seriously?"

Avalon hissed. "Dang it."

Maria sighed. "Indeed."

Mammon piped up. "Wait though, if we can't get through here, we can't get to the dining car, can we...? Pff, you can take your "reserved car" and shove it. I'll just pretend I can't read human world writin'. ... Yep, that works. In I go... 'Scuse me, comin' through..."

Zach sighed. Lillian, who was there because of her cousin, started to stalk him in a keeping an eye on him way. The lights suddenly went off. Mammon was surprised. "What the...?"

Lillian was starting to get scared. Mammon was looking around. "Man, it's dark in here...! ... Wait, what was that? Someone in here?"

A spirit medium suddenly spoke. "Elohim Essaim Frugativi et appelavi..."

A man spoke next. "Come to us... we beseech you..."

A woman was the next to speak. "Hear our words... heed our summons..."

Another man spoke. "Show yourself... appear before us..."

Lillian watched as Mammon looked at them with confusion. The spirit medium looked at him and then collapsed. She had been stabbed in the back! Lillian immediately reported to her family before going back. The last word the spirit medium said was Mammon before she stopped breathing. The other three were paralyzed with shock. Mammon, however, heard his name and it fueled his big ego. He declared it was his name. Of course, they took it the wrong way and assumed he killed her.
