Chapter 49: The Demon House

The group was in Levi's room. Lucifer turned to them. "Did you find Levi?"

Satan shook his head. "No. He wasn't anywhere Ivy, Maria, Avalon, or I looked, at least."

Maria rubbed the back of her neck. "Sorry to disappoint."

Ivy patted her little sister on the head. "Don't worry. If worse comes to worse, we have them."

"Right."

Satan turned away from the sisters to look at Lucifer. "Are you certain that it was Levi that called you earlier?"

Lucifer nodded. "Yes, it was definitely him. The call was from his D.D.D., and I heard him scream just before we cut off. It was his voice, I'm sure of it."

Ivy tapped her head. "I raced ahead to catch up with the others, so I'm not sure what happened."

Satan was also curious. "But after searching the rest of the house and coming back, we found his D.D.D. laying on the ground, while Levi is nowhere to be seen... Hmm..."

The door opened to reveal Mammon. "Hey, we took a look around the house... no Levi anywhere."

Asmo piped up. "Ah... I take it he hasn't come back to his room yet?"

Avalon shook her head. "Unfortunately, he hasn't arrived yet. Bloody hell, what is going on?!"

Satan was perplexed. "... Hmm. Then where is he..."

Lucifer tried to think of a logical explanation. "He probably decided to go out somewhere. Seems plausible."

Ivy frowned. That didn't seem right to her. Mammon hummed. "Yeah. I bet he went out to some store to wait in line all night for whatever new game or DVD is coming out tomorrow. That's gotta be it, right?"

The idea didn't sit right with Avalon. Asmo piped up. "Ooh, yeah, he would do something like that! When Lucifer said he heard him scream before the call got cut off, I thought maybe something had happened to him, you know? Ugh, I got worried over nothing..."

Satan finally voiced what Ivy was thinking. "You think he'd just leave his D.D.D. here in his room, though?"

Mammon shrugged. "Eh, he probably just forgot about it."

Asmo seemed peppy. "Well, I guess that settles it! Looks like we can call off the search!"

Lucifer put an end to that real fast. "... Actually, wait a minute. What about Beel? Where did he go?"

Mammon blinked. "... Uh, wha?"

They were now outside. Asmo was livid. "Ugh, I've had just about enough of this! In case, staying up late is the bane of healthy skin!"

Satan rolled his eyes. "Fine, you go sleep. The rest of us will stay up looking for Levi and Beel."

"Wait, no. I didn't say I wouldn't keep looking for them."

Lucifer crossed his arms. "I don't know about Levi, but Beel at least has to be somewhere inside the house. We'll split up and search for him. Satan, Ivy, Avalon, Maria, you're with me."

Ivy knew her old friend would start complaining so she plugged her ears. Thankfully, Mammon was pulled away by Asmo. The group got moving afterwards.

Lucifer had been silent the entire time. Satan finally piped up. "... Lucifer, what's going through your head?"

Lucifer finally spoke. "I was thinking... about the stories they used to tell about the House of Lamentation."
