Chapter 60: Lilith

That was the end of the flashback. Silence followed from Mammon, Satan, Beel, Avalon, Maria, and Ivy. Asmo was the first to speak up. "... Okay, I understand what happened now, but still... Couldn't you at least have told us in secret what was up?"

Levi nodded in agreement with Asmo. "Yeah. You didn't have to lie to us, feeding us that story about sending Belphie off to the human world to study. Isn't that right, Ivy? You agree, don't you?"

Ivy nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I agree."

Mammon smiled at his old friend. "Mmhm, exactly! See, you really get it, Ivy!"

"So why is it that Belphie hates humans then?"

Avalon hummed. "I'd like to know this as well."

Maria nodded. "I would too."

Silence from Lucifer. Beel frowned. "That's not something we usually--"

Mammon decided to take the initiative and step up to explain. "All right, listen up. There ain't any rule sayin' we can't talk about what happened with Lilith, is there? C'mon, we should answer the question Ivy, Avalon, and Maria have."

Lucifer nodded in response to that. "... You're right. Ivy, Avalon, Maria, I take it you've heard us mention Lilith before? She was our little sister, the youngest of us."

-Flashback-

Lucifer narrated the story. "Long ago, back when we were still angels... Belphie felt very differently about humans than he does now. He liked them."

Ivy, Avalon, and Maria were surprised. Mammon chimed in. "Uh, I'd say he more than just liked 'em."

Beel also joined in. "Yeah. He loved them. He loved humans and the human world in general."

Asmo joined in as well with a chuckle. "Yep, he really did. His room was filled to the brim with stuff from the human world. And whenever he had a chance, he'd sneak down there for a visit."

Levi also decided to reminiscence. "He used to bring me back stuff all the time. He knew my favorite anime and manga and game characters, and he'd get me rare character-themed merchandise."

Beel piped up. "He'd regularly go down to the human world without permission, and he would always get in trouble with Lucifer and Michael for it. He'd say he wanted to see how the humans were doing and what they were up to."

Mammon added on. "No matter how many times he got yelled at, it never stopped him."

Ivy chuckled. The old Belphie must have been a handful. Lucifer continued the story. "Lilith was especially close to Belphie. His enthusiasm for the human world rubbed off on her, and she began to take an interest in humans as well."

Ivy had to hold back more chuckles. So, they had two handfuls back then. Good to know. Beel smiled at the memory. "Yeah. Lilith had always been really attached to Belphie."

Asmo blinked in surprise. "No need to be so modest. I'd say she was pretty attached to you too, Beel. You, Belphie, and Lilith always used to hang around together, laughing and giggling. I was so jealous!"

Levi added on to the statement. "Yeah. Whenever you were together, you were like three puppies, playing and having a good time."

The three sisters smiled at that. That close, huh? Mammon chuckled. "Hey, whoa! Lilith was also pretty attached to ME! Like, we even slept in the same bed once, y'know! She was a big fan of Mammon!"

Asmo chuckled at that. "Oh yeah, I remember now! You woke up and started making a scene, yelling about how you'd just had a bad dream."

"WHOA... HEY! Quit it! Not another word!"
