Chapter 52: Dark Clouds

The door suddenly opened with a creak. Everyone turned in that direction. Mammon blinked in surprise. "You...!"

Satan was in disbelief. "How can this be...?"

Beel made a pained noise. Belphegor was here. "Well, hello there, brothers... I can't tell you how much I missed you..."

Lucifer was stunned. "Belphegor...!"

Avalon and Maria continued to shield their unconscious sister from this stranger. Mammon was confused. "... Wh-what's goin' on...?"

Asmo was in disbelief. "Hold on, isn't Belphie supposed to be up in the human world on the exchange program?"

Satan turned towards the eldest brother. "Lucifer, what's going on here?"

Lucifer was back to being silent. Belphegor turned to him. "I bet this comes as a real surprise, huh? Admit it, you didn't expect this, did you? To think that I'd actually show up here after you thought you'd gotten rid of me... locking me up in the attic and lying to your brothers about where I'd gone."

Avalon used an herb to wake Ivy up so they could get answers. While she was waking up, Beel turned to his twin. "The attic...? Locked up...?"

"Forget it, Beel. It's okay. I managed to get out, as you can see. Ahh... I've gotta say, this really is nice. So nice. I love this feeling. This freedom."

His eyes then trained on Avalon, who he thought was Ivy but had gotten rid of the bang. "And I have you to thank for it, Ivy. This is all thanks to you."

Avalon glared up at him. "Ivy is my twin sister, idiot. Ivy, get up. I used that herb to wake up, now up you go."

His eyes trailed down to the female picking herself up and getting up. She reached into her eye and pulled out something. A contact, he realized. Avalon did the same thing and Ivy then turned to face him. Her eye, it was violet. Mammon then blinked. "Wait, what? Thanks to Ivy?"

Lucifer narrowed his eyes at her. "... So that's what you've been up to. That was your true goal all along, wasn't it Ivy...?!"

I didn't want this.

Ivy thought that bitterly. Just because she had been his ally didn't mean she wanted this. Avalon noticed her sister's pursed lips and squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. She could tell what her twin was thinking just by looking at her expression. Asmo blinked at the two. "What do you mean by that?"

Satan stared at Lucifer. "You mean to say that Ivy and Belphie have met before? And the reason for wanting to make pacts with us has something to do with what's happening now?"

Mammon was shocked. "Wh...?!"

Asmo was in disbelief. "Y-You've got to be joking. How could Ivy have been in any sort of position to make this happen?"

No one could tell what Ivy was thinking since her bang was facing them. Only Avalon and Maria saw their sister's vacant eyes. She had been put through trauma once again and now this was happening. Maria hugged her sister and Ivy lifted her arms to hug her back. At least she had them. Beel suddenly spoke. "Who cares, honestly? None of that matters now. Belphie...! I missed you so much!"

Beel rushed up and hugged him. Avalon squeezed her twin's shoulder as she watched. Ivy looked at Belphie. Belphie smiled. "Heheh, you're the only one, Beel. The only one who's happy to see me again, the only one who came up and hugged me. Pay attention, guys. You could learn a thing or two."

Ivy tightened her arms around Maria. Maria could sense her half sister's growing anxiety of the situation. I mean, this was out of the blue and Ivy was already on guard. Satan blinked at him. "Well, we might have done the same thing, but considering the circumstances..."

Beel turned to Ivy, who was still hugging her youngest sibling. "Ivy."

At the sound of her name, Ivy turned her head to look at Beel. "I don't really get what's going on here, but... did you help Belphie? Is that it? You saved him?"

Ivy smiled at Beel. "You're welcome, Beel. Now, we're both reunited with our twins."

"Thank goodness you were there for him, Ivy."

Ivy dropped her smile before looking at Maria. Lucifer was still outraged. "No. If only you hadn't been there for him! Do you seriously think that I'm going to let Belphie go free now?"

Ivy started to grow anxious again. Beel turned his head towards his eldest brother. "... What's that supposed to mean?"

Ivy didn't think she wanted to know. Beel was still eying Lucifer. "Lucifer, are you admitting to all of this? That you locked up Belphie and held him prisoner? And everything you told us about sending him to the human world as an exchange student was a lie?"

Ivy squeezed her eyes shut. Avalon started hushing her big sister and rubbing her back. Ivy needed to be kept calm. Asmo eyed the two. "... It's starting to feel like a bigger fight is about to break out."

Mammon turned to Asmo. "An even bigger fight? Ya think that's possible?!"

Avalon glared at them. "That is so helpful! Not like there's a traumatized woman in the room!"

Belphie glared at Lucifer. "Lucifer, I'm not going back there."

Lucifer stared right back. "That's for me to decide."

Beel glared at his eldest brother. "Oh no... no, it's not! You don't get to make that decision!"

"... Are you saying you'll turn on me, Beel? Defy me?"

"Turn on you? Why would I listen to you, when you're the one who betrayed us!"

Lucifer was surprised. Beel turned around. "I'm leaving. Ivy, Avalon, Maria, Belphie, let's go."

Ivy and her siblings were surprised. Belphie blinked. "... Go? Go where?"

Mammon looked at the eldest Autumns sibling. "H-Hey, wait a minute! Ivy...!"

The door then slammed. Asmo stared after them. "... Wh... ugh."

Asmo sighed. "He left, and he took the three with him."

Satan was still in shock. "Yeah. I can't believe Beel of all demons would actually turn on Lucifer..."

Mammon turned to his brother. "Yo, what're ya gonna do about this?! I mean, he just made with Belphie, Maria, Avalon, AND Ivy!"

Lucifer was silent.
