Chapter 56: A True Friend

Ivy and her sisters were now in Mammon's room with silence between them. As the silence prolonged, Avalon and Maria eyed them back and forth. They were trying to figure out who would break the silence. Ivy, having enough of the silent treatment, decided to break the silence. "Mr. The Great Mammon, Sir?"

Silence followed. Maria turned to Avalon and decided to whisper. "This is like watching a married couple, hm?"

Avalon nodded. Ivy blinked at the male before giving him an angry look. "Quit ignoring me, you bloody idiot!"

Silence still followed. Ivy felt her irritation levels rise as he continued to give her the silent treatment. Ivy then hugged him as tightly as she could. This surprised Mammon. "... Wha?! ... Aww. ... I mean, now listen, you!"

Avalon sighed in relief. "Oh thank goodness. Any more of the silent treatment and Ivy would've German suplexed him."

Maria nodded before noticing a red tint on Mammon's face. He was a certified simp for Ivy. Mammon turned his head away from his old friend. "Dammit. You really play dirty, you know that...? All right, FINE! You want me to talk? I'll talk!"

Ivy kept her arms secured around him as he faced the half blind woman. Mammon looked like he was trying to be mad at her. "... Just so we're clear, I'm really mad at you! Why didn't you tell me anything? I mean, it's you and me! Or is what we have nothin' more than... y'know..."

Ivy eyed him curiously. "Nothing more than what, Mammon?"

"You know, nothin' more than... whatever, why do I gotta explain everything to you?! Listen, here's the thing. The very first demon you made a pact with after comin' to the Devildom was me. Which means I was your first guy! You know that, right! ... And that's what makes this all the harder to swallow."

Ivy blinked in surprise. Was Mammon jealous? That she had spoken with Belphie and made pacts with his brothers for him. Her suspicions were confirmed when he spoke up again. "I mean, was it all for Belphie? Ya made a pact with me... for him?"

Ivy reached out with one hand to cup his left cheek. "No."

Mammon lifted his left hand to place on her right hand. "No? ... Really? Really for real seriously really?"

"Really."

Avalon stared at them. "Now kiss--"

Maria hushed her. "Shh, it needs more feels before they can do that."

Mammon's response to Ivy was a hum. "... Hm. All right, then. In that case, fine. ... So, what is it you wanna do?"

Avalon was starting to grow bored. "When are you two going to make out?"

Maria smacked her. "Now is not the time, Ava!"

The two lost in the moment chose to ignore her. Mammon narrowed his eyes at Ivy. "And NO more secrets this time! Tell me everything!"

Ava rolled her eyes. "I swear, all this sexual tension is going to kill me."

Maria sighed. "Ava, please."

Ivy had decided to tell Mammon everything. Mammon nodded once she had finished. "... Aha. So lemme get this straight. You want to know why Belphie hates humans. And you wanna understand why Lucifer went and shut him inside the attic. And in order to do that, you need to talk to Lucifer. Do I got that right?"

Ivy nodded to him. "That pretty much checks."

"Here's the thing, though: Lucifer's holed himself up inside his room, and he won't come out. Oh well! I guess I'm gonna have to help you, aren't I? All right then, this is your lucky day, 'cause now you've got Mammon on your side!"
