You hold your hand up, stopping the rest of your SeeD team behind a house in Balamb Town. The group waited in dead silence for what seemed like all of eternity.

Then you pointed at the monster pacing in the shadows, and lifted your gunblade.

One shot later and the monster flopped over. "That's one. Get the rest of them." You whisper, shifting your gun down. The rest of your team filtered out into the picturesque seaside town, and you crossed your arms, silently walking over to the dead creature.

There was an invasion of them in Balamb Town, and SeeD had sent your group to deal with it.

They had also supposedly sent someone else from Galbadia to help you with the invasion, but so far the "someone" were a no show. It didn't matter to you, as you usually worked with just your team, no one else.

You kneel down next to the dead monster and scan the area for any others. "What luck." You grumbled to yourself, lifting up your gunblade. "These monsters are cowards."

That's when someone cleared their throat behind you. It makes you jump, you to whip around and point the business end of your blade at the chest whoever was behind you.

Evidently, that kind gesture makes the unknown person, who was wearing a jacket and cowboy hatp, jump as well, as he yelps and backs up a few feet. "Wait! Don't shoot!" He yelled, quite loudly.

You freeze, noticing that his incessant shouting was drawing out another, very close monster, and spring into action, clapping a hand over the man's mouth and dragging him behind the nearest building. "Quiet! Do you want every creature in this town to hear you?" You hiss. "Who are you anyway? Civilians were evacuated from the town!"

The man moves your hand away from his mouth and to your absolute surprise, winks at you. "Irvine Kinneas. I'm the sharpshooter from Galbadia. And you must be the lovely leader of the team I was sent to aid!" He replied, flipping a previously unseen gun. "A pleasure to meet you." You sigh to yourself. Already, you didn't like this guy, but if he really was the person SeeD sent over, you'd have to deal with him anyway.

"I am the leader. Now come on." You barked in response, turning on your heel. "We've got monsters to kill." Irvine looked somewhat floored at your response but he followed behind you. "If I may ask," He added. "Would a lovely lady like yourself be busy after today? Like, around dinner?"

You roll your eyes, and glance behind you at the man. It wasn't the first time someone you were working with offered a date, but it was the first time they had done it this quickly. "Mr. Kinneas, we have a job to do. Save the pleasantries for later." Irvine holds his hands up in mock surrender, still grinning. "Of course, miss. Forget I said anything."

His flippant attitude was grinding on your nerves, but you ignored it and headed deeper into the town. "There." You whisper, pointing at an especially large monster chewing on something.

Before you even picked up your gunblade, the monster flopped over, obvious wounds appearing on its side. You glance down at your weapon, and then back at Irvine, who flipped his gun and winked at you. You rolled your eyes again. "I suppose Galbadia wasn't lying about you being their best sharpshooter."

He smirked. "They were not." You sighed, and turned around, firing at another monster that Irvine didn't see. "We've got work to do."

The rest of the monsters fell relatively quickly throughout the day, and you had to admit, Irvine, as irritating as he was, was a good marksman.

Among...other things.

When the last of the monsters had finally fallen, you put down your gunblade, and looked over at the man, who was flirting with another member of your team. It annoyed you somewhat, and you crossed your arms.

"Mr. Kinneas." You call, causing the man to glance up. He walks over to you, waving his gun. "Do you need something, Miss leader?" He asks nonchalantly. "About what you asked earlier." You sighed before saying the next sentence.'"I would be intrigues about dinner tonight."

You saw the man visibly stop dead and rethink something, before smiling broadly. "Really? Yeah, of course really. I'll see you tonight!" He turned and walked off.

You could've sworn you heard him whisper giddily to himself.

Well that took forever. Sorry for the delay.

Anyway, FFVIII. And I thought XV was confusing. I completely apologize for butchering probably all the lore, setting, everything else. Trust me, I did my best with research.

Irvine as a character for me, is weird. I find him somewhat annoying (His department is seriously "guns and women"? Really?), but this was still pretty fun to write ngl. No, my favorite FF characters are not the ones in hats. I find Ardyn's hat to be ridiculous tbh.
