Lightning's head was killing her.
Always a good way to start off waking up in some unknown place. She sat up on the strangely cold ground and grumbled something under her breath, brushing her hair out of her eyes. It was pitch black, which caused Lightning's hand to immediately went to her gunblade.
"Yeah, this isn't good." She muttered to herself quietly, slowly standing up and brushing some of her pink hair out of her eyes. At the same time, she heard someone else clamber to their feet as well, and whipped around to face the disturbance. "Who goes there?"
A short scuffling sound echoed through the area, and suddenly a golden light appeared, blinding Lightning for a second. "Oh. You're Lightning, right?" The other warrior, who was a brown haired fellow with a fluffy jacket and was also holding the lantern, was one of Cosmos's warriors, she could tell that much.
"What's your point?" Lightning snapped in response. He also had a gunblade, although his was twice the size of hers, and he looked just as excited as she did to have company. "Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I don't know where we are either."
She didn't lower her weapon. "You're Squall, aren't you?" The other warrior nodded and she continued. "Nice to meet you. Do you know where Cosmos dropped us?" He shrugged, and placed the lantern down. "Nice to meet you. And I'm not sure this is even her doing." Another sound echoed through the room, and Lightning cursed under her breath.
The duo whipped around, ready for a fight. Squall grabbed the lantern and his sword and Lightning braced her gun. "Whoever's out there, step into the light." She growled, her voice low. "Or I'll come over there and make you."
A creak came from the darkness, and then a Warrior of Chaos stepped into the light. Lightning and Squall both simultaneously got into a fighting stance, until the enemy squeaked and backed up, dropping his own sword. "Wait, don't attack!" He called, holding his hands up. "I surrender!"
"That's a familiar voice." Lightning thought, but Squall beat her to the interrogation. "Why should we believe you?" He barked. "For all we know, Kefka, Kuja, ULTIMECIA could be behind you, ready to strike!" The other warrior, still hidden in the shadows, kicked his large sword towards them as a sign of surrender. "They aren't! It's just me, I swear!"
Squall picked up the weapon, still livid, and prepared to throw it at him, but Lightning held up a hand. "Stand down, Squall. I know him." He grumbled but relented, walking off to the side, and Lightning took control of the conversation. "Come into the light."
The warrior of chaos stepped into the dim light of the lantern, revealing himself to be a blonde man with spiky hair and multiple bruises up his arms and face. Lightning crossed her arms. "Cloud Strife. Good to see you again."
"You know this guy?" Squall whispered, walking up beside her, and she nodded. "We met once." Turning back to Cloud, she shifted her weapon, now transformed back to a sword. "Why did you surrender to us? This is clearly a trap done by Chaos's Warriors. We're not stupid."
Cloud rubbed his arms, and glanced away, looking unsure. Squall hissed, and pointed the two swords at him. "Start talking, blondie." He snapped, causing the other man to jump.
"Okay, okay I'll talk!" He yelped, holding his hands up. "This is a trap by Kefka, Ultimecia, Sephiroth, everyone! They trapped you two down here without food, water, or escape so you'll either kill each other, or die of starvation or thirst!"
The two were stunned. "That's low. Even for Ultimecia's standards." Squall muttered under his breath, looking around for an exit. "It makes sense though." Lightning was deep in thought for a moment, and then a question hit her. "Well, if this is a trap for us, Cosmos's warriors," She started "Why are you down here?"
Cloud coughed, looking embarrassed, and he shied away. "Well, since Sephiroth can't kill me, he had Ultimecia knock me out and drag me down here. They want me dead as well." He whispered, rubbing the side of his head. "He's probably watching from somewhere, laughing."
Silence. "They'd do that to one of their own warriors?" Lightning snarled, bracing her sword. "That's disgusting." Cloud sighed and nodded. "That's why I surrendered. If you two bust out of here somehow, take me as your prisoner. Anything's better than being the local punching bag here."
Lightning nodded. "If we get out of here..." She muttered, tapping her foot on the floor, which made a strange hollow noise. Squall noticed that, evidently, and tapped the floor as well, listening to the strange sound. "Hey, this floor is glass." He commented, pointing the lantern down.
Cloud shifted from one foot to the other, really uncomfortable. "So it is." Lightning murmured, deep in thought. Then an idea hit her. "Let's break the floor."
"Let's do WHAT?" Squall snapped, whipping around. Lightning threw Cloud's sword back to him, and pulled her own weapon out. "If we do that, we die!"
"We die either way." Cloud threw in. "I'm cool with it." Squall rolled his eyes, but he grabbed his gunblade. "Fine then. I've seen stupider things." Lightning flipped her gun and pointed it down. "On the count of three." She took a breath. "One."
"DON'T YOU DARE!" A shriek echoed, and the trio glanced up as floodlights came on, revealing the grinning maw of the jester, Kefka. Lightning shrugged. "Three."
The trio shattered the glass simultaneously, and air rushed through, dragging them downward. Lightning glanced around and crossed her arms. "Cosmos, if you're even listening to us, don't you dare let us die." She muttered, twisting her weapon.
Light enveloped the trio suddenly, and Lightning rolled her eyes as the three began to vanish. "Thanks for listening."

"Well, that was a spectacular waste of time." Sephiroth snarled, watching Kefka freak out in the large cell from behind a glass screen. "I should've guessed trusting Kefka with anything was a terrible idea."
Ultimecia shrugged languidlly, her dress glowing in the dim light. "Are we really surprised?" She muttered, checking her perfectly manicured nails. "I'm not." A voice threw in, causing the two to turn around. Kuja was drumming his fingers on the wall, looking bored.
"Why are you here?" Sephiroth snapped, raising a hand. The other man shrugged, floating slightly above the ground. "I wanted to see a fight, and I didn't get one."
"You knew no one down there, Genome." Ultimecia growled. Kuja stuck his tongue out, but he didn't respond.
The three stood there, watching Kefka run around in the room. "I'm not going to help him." Sephiroth muttered, turning and going to leave the room. "Agreed." Ultimecia added, brushing out before he did.
Kuja shrugged. "I suppose it's not my problem either." He said, heading out after the two. "Good luck, Kefka!"

My long promised Dissdia oneshot is finally finished!
Anyway, Dissidia is cool. Although why exactly is Cloud a member of Chaos in 012? He would never work with Sephiroth.
Lightning and Squall are awesome, I love them both. Pretty much the only character I disliked writing here was Kefka. Clowns freak me out.
Vote, comment, etc. Next oneshot is gonna be holiday themed. Have a great day everyone!
(Also please tell me at least one person caught the reference in the title.)
