Mi Young was actually born in America. She moved here when she was 4.
So English is her first language. During those 4 years, Mi Young always had fun with her Dad but studied with her Mom. Her parents fought over about what she should do and it wasn't good.
They had really bad fights and Mi Young's mother has a temper so she kicked out the Dad and moved to Busan, where the mother's side of the family lived. But they weren't really family.
Just distant relatives. Everyone criticized Mi Young and her mother for kicking out the Dad who gave them happiness and money because of his job. That "family" abused Mi Young and the mother for being "stupid." Of course it wasn't Mi Young's fault- but she was abused anyways.
The mother took Mi Young and run away to Seoul and stayed here. The mother and Mi Young were scared to even get out of the house but somehow they kept their cool and got out of the house and went on with their lives.
That's when Mi Young turned 7 and entered school. She was still the same Mi Young from today- mean, sarcastic and witty.
She of course, didn't pay any attention to the boys but they teased her about having such a full .
Mi Young would just always roll her eyes and say, "You guys are just scared of it, that's why." Mi Young wouldn't play with anybody because she hated the boys and girls hated her. Girls didn't like her because she took so much attention from the boys and teachers. The teachers liked her intelligence and the boys teased her about her . They almost tried to gang up on her but she fought them easy. She still got in trouble anyways. And that's when I met her...
----------------------------------------------
Mi Young swung her legs from the chair, quietly listening to the fight her mother and the principal were having.
"She kicked a girl in the face. This is highly dangerous for such a kid this age," the principal said.
"Are you stupid?? Those idiotic girls wanted to hit my daughter! Mi Young was right to do that!" the mother yelled.
Mi Young rolled her eyes. Aish, stupid people, Mi Young thought.
She still kept on swinging her legs until she realized this fight was going to go on for some time. She thought this was the time for exploring.
She got up from her chair and wandered around the school, looking at pictures drawn by other people and empty classrooms.
She liked school better this way- no retards in school and no ugly teachers to ruin her eyesight.
She traveled for at least 15 minutes until she heard a sound.
Being curious, she went to where the sound was and then peeked into the classroom.
The classroom had this shelf that was tilted and books were lopsided.
There, was a small cute girl who just fell on her .
The girl had tears in her eyes and started to rub her eyes.
The girl didn't realize Mi Young was staring at her.
"S...stupid book..." the girl whimpered.
She started to cry a little more.
Mi Young just stared at the girl.
"You know, crying makes you ugly."
The girl looked up and saw Mi Young staring down at her with folded arms.
"What?" the girl asked.
"Crying makes you ugly. Don't be such a big baby over such little things. Suck it up," Mi Young told the girl.
"That's easy for you to say- you haven't experienced any hurt," the girl cried.
Mi Young glared at her.
"Just suck it up. Don't be such a stupid girl," Mi Young told her once more until going back.
The girl just saw her leave and the girl was sort of amazed how this girl didn't feel bad for her.
Why didn't that girl say "I'm sorry for you." ?
This girl was different from all other girls.
The next couple of days, the girl hung around Mi Young trying to get to know her.
Mi Young would get so pissed and tell her to leave. But the girl wouldn't The girl wanted to be friends with her because she seemed so different.
But Mi Young would get so angry and annoyed she'd yell at her to leave.
But that girl had patience and didn't leave.
One day when the little girl was walking home from a nearby park, she encountered Mi Young with a swollen cheek. Mi Young was walking away from a house that was a couple of yards away. And the girl could hear yelling from there.
The little girl saw Mi Young with the swollen cheek and gaped at her.
"Now you're gonna run away, right?" Mi Young asked quietly.
The girl hesitated.
But then she went to Mi Young and hugged her from behind.
"Don't be such a big baby," the girl said.
Mi Young didn't say anything but was surprised by this girl's actions.
They stayed like that for some time.
The next day, Mi Young was somewhere in the playground when the little girl came up to her.
"Are you okay, today?" she asked Mi Young.
Mi Young stared at her for a while but then nodded slowly.
The girl smiled. "That's great to know! Because... I wanna be friends with you!" the little girl squealed.
Mi Young raised an eyebrow. "Why?" she asked.
"You're so cool!" the girl said in awe.
Mi Young stared at her and then smiled. "I'm Mi Young. You?" she asked.
The girl smiled. "My name's Hea Won and whoa!-"
Hea Won accidentally tripped and fell right on her .
She felt her twitch and squirmed.
Mi Young stared at the fallen Hea Won.
And then Mi Young laughed. She laughed and Hea Won thought it was such a beautiful laugh.
Hea Won gaped at her.
Mi Young held out her hand. She smiled. "Just like how we met," Mi Young whispered.
And that's when their strong friendship began.
----------------------------------------------
Years passed and Mi Young and I were always together. School, the mall, the park. I even was there for her when her Mom was on those rampages.
Mi Young was still always the same- never changing and always hating boys. I never seemed to know why, though. She said it was because boys were ugly and didn't seem to satisfy her taste.
But then that day came, when the new student was transferred into our school.
We were 13, and Mi Young and I were at lunch, eating.
I had a problem with some other girl but Mi Young cleared that up. But that girl was so mad, she decided to try to hit Mi Young but a tall guy came in front of us and blocked the punch from coming to Mi Young.
----------------------------------------------
"That's enough. I think you should go," the deep voice of that guy said.
The girl left, angry and pissed but that didn't seem important.
The guy turned around at Mi Young and smiled. "Hi, are you hurt?" he asked Mi Young.
She raised an eyebrow. "Who the hell are you?" she asked.
The guy smiled again at her. "My name is Lee Joon. I'm the new transfer student. Please take care of me."
