I glared at the blonde who stood beside me. "I hate you," I spat.
Key shoved my shoulder playfully and had let me staggered a few steps forward. "You don't mean that~"
"Oh, I do. Making me carry all these bags..."
"Please, you love me."
"Conceited."
"Yeah, well..."
I exhaled sharply and ran a hand through my hair, feeling a slightly wet substance on my fingertips. I had been outside for over five minutes and the heat was devastating. It was partially because of the scorching weather outside, but it was also because of the compact position both Key and I were in a few minutes ago. That, and the fact Key demanded I hold his bag while he tied his shoe. I didn't know it took fifteen minutes to tie your shoelaces.
Hundreds of students my age had been crawling around the front of a hotel to wait for the teachers' orders. We were on our Senior Trip, the one I've heard almost every senior talk about for the past nine months. I thought we would be going to some dingy amusement park, wasting money and time. It turned out I was wrong when I went aboard on an airplane and flew over the air. And right now, one-fourth of the school's population was in Jeju Island.
"Did you find our room number yet?" I asked Key, looking over the room numbers on the golden plaques stuck to the doors. Key shook his head, his eyes on the hotel key card.
"Our room is 16B..." he muttered, looking at the plaques and passing by them. Before I could give out another sigh, Key stopped in his tracks and I stopped beside him. He pointed to the room in front of him. "This one." He took the key card and slid it in, granting us access inside. I dropped all the bags on the floor beside one of the beds and threw myself over the bed sheets, the muscles unraveling inside me.
"I feel so much better already," I mumbled to myself as the heated skin of my arms rubbed against the cool fabric of the bed. I heard Key unzip his bag and take out a couple of things, though I wasn't sure what. I closed my eyes and yawned, exhausted by the trip to arrive here. Though it had taken only over an hour, I had to get up at the agonizing time of six in the morning and force myself to go to school. I hadn't had time to eat breakfast and they didn't offer anything at the airplane except for drinks.
For some reason, Key decided it would be "funny" if his tiny pushed me away repeatedly as Onew got into the seat I was supposed to sit in, next to Mi Young. I had bickered with Key for about five minutes about how unreasonable he was being and how I was about to punch him in the face for being such a . A teacher came over and demanded us to go sit in our seats, and from there we had fought verbally. We never finished our argument.
"I'm so tired," I complained loudly, spreading my arms.
"Ugh, me too. Should we stay inside?" Key suggested. He had his legs sprawled out in front of him with his palms pressing against the carpeted floor. I nodded once, agreeing to his idea. "Okay then. I'll just call up everyone and invite them over," he added on, taking out his phone.
"Tell them to bring food," I mentioned, picking my head up, and then letting it drop on the bed. He called Minho first and, after having a back and forth argument about nothing, had gotten him to bring the food. He called the others to come to our room and to bring whatever needed to sustain boredom. After doing his job, Key began examining his nails.
"So, Jonghyun, how is your precious girlfriend?" he asked.
"I wouldn't know since your tiny rear stopped me from sitting next to her," I spat at him. He waved his hand around carelessly and called me a "baby".
"Tell me, have you went to second base yet?" he wanted to know. I hoisted an eyebrow and gave him a look to represent my irritation. He was able to tell he shouldn't be one to know about that and I had no urge of any kind to tell him. The blonde poked out his lower lip to appear innocent. "I just want to know," he whispered in a way a child would.
Rolling my eyes, I answered, "No, we haven't. Besides, if I do anything rash like those other times before we were dating, I bet my stomach would be gutted out from the inside." There were several times when I would touch her inappropriately and say vulgar words. By the time she would grab a part of my body I knew I was done. And then there were those times when I had become completely engrossed by her and just went for it without a coherent explanation for what I was doing.
"But you guys are together, it shouldn't matter now," Key pointed out, making an obvious fact. I got up into a sitting position with my legs crossed into a pretzel.
"Yeah, but what if she doesn't want to go further? It'll just...make things complicated or something. I don't know," I muttered, shrugging.
"What do you mean 'it'll just make things complicated'? Ever since you hit on her, everything was all over the place."
I chuckled shortly, looking at the sunlit horizon from what the window offered. "All because of my wants, huh? That's how I met Mi Young," I uttered almost softly. "And just think: If I hadn't met her, I wouldn't know what the hell I would be doing right about now."
"Most likely ing dumbasses like you," Key helped with my pondering. I gave him a wry smile and shook my head at his words.
"Whatever," I breathed. "I'm with her now, so it's fine. If she's fine with second base or even further, then that's when I decide what to do," I concluded.
"And what if she's not?"
"She'll decide on her own time. I can wait," I smiled a bit, thoughts on my redhead.
"You're so cheesy," Key commented, showing his utter disgust through his facial expression. The dreamy smile wiped off my face as a scowl took over.
"You think I enjoyed all those mushy remarks you made about Hea Won for more than five years?" I retorted.
"Unlike you, I was original and didn't steal lines from corny movies," Key huffed, his rejoinder being somewhat believable.
"This is my first girlfriend in years. You shut your blonde mouth before I do something you regret," I threatened him, glaring at his smug aura. He placed his hands on his cheeks and gasped as he widened his eyes.
"Are you going to send me a trip through your nostrils?" he asked, feigning horror.
"YAH!" I puckered my lips slightly in anger and folded my arms. "Stop making fun of my nose. Lots of people have big nostrils. I don't see the big deal in my appearance," I grumbled in dissatisfaction.
"The thing is, Jonghyun, is that you're Jonghyun. It's hard not to make fun of you. Know what I'm saying?" Key said.
"No."
"See, this is why you're stupid."
"Go die and rot in a hole," I snapped at him, falling on my side. I stuck my tongue out at his non-amused expression and this resulted in him rolling his eyes. A few knocks came rapping on the door in a rhythm. Key peeled himself off the floor and began walking over to the sound.
"You think Mi Young would want to hear about this?" Key smirked, raising his brow slyly whilst he walked past me. I directly shot up and grabbed the first pillow I could get my hands on and chucked it at his head. My attempt failed and his bark of a laugh resounded the room. Don't you even dare, I thought bitterly, my eyes observing Key's every move. He asked who was behind the door and Yanna answered. When he let them enter, I waved at Yanna. My eyes danced over to Mi Young's blood-red hair and they settled on her eyes. I gave her a closed-lip smile as my mouth pursed.
She gave me a slight smile in return, her mien still in place. I caught a glance at Key shift over towards Mi Young, taking little awkward steps as he went. He didn't even look my way, so I knew he was being serious about what he said earlier. Words would not put a stop to that blonde, I knew. This called for immediate action. I sprung up from the bed and ran over to them, putting my arms over Mi Young and, more importantly, her ears. It wasn't the most comfortable condition I had her in, nor was it for me. My forearms had her ears secured from hearing any of Key's babble. She showed me a look of bewilderment, one of her eyebrows rising. The antagonist of all this looked pleased with himself, walking away from the both of us nonchalantly.
"Intimacy~" he sang before going over to Yanna. I frowned at him as he expanded the distance between us. I turned back my attention to Mi Young, who still was baffled by my actions.
"What are you doing?" she asked steadily.
I blinked at her, processing a reply in my head. I shrugged apologetically, sliding my arms from her ears to her neck and brought her closer to me. "Intimacy," I replied. A lopsided smile was put together on my face afterwards.
Mi Young wrinkled her brow. "What?" she asked flatly, not comprehending to what I was saying.
I laughed quietly at her, shaking my head. "Nothing," I replied. I let my arms fall to my side and enveloped one of my hands into hers. Her eyes traveled down to our entwined hands and they looked back up at me, her eyebrow rising once again. I patiently waited for some kind of protest, a push or something. She hadn't done anything to me touching her, and if I think about it, she hadn't done anything drastic to me or showed me a sign she disliked the skinship. It gave me hope the weakness she once had was drifting away patiently.
