"What if I told you that I can't live without you? What if I told you that I need you? Would that change anything?" She whispered in the deep darkness of the night.

"I want to feel something for you. But I can't. I don't know how." He responded, looking out the window. She walked over to him and rested her chin on his shoulder. "You wouldn't be a runner if it weren't for me."

"You didn't do anything I didn't want you to, it's my life. I made these decisions." He looked at her briefly and felt the butterflies rush through his stomach. "What does love feel like?" He asked her and she pulled away from him and sat down.

"Love feels like you need somebody, you smile and get butterflies when you see them, you hate to see them hurt, you want the best for them always. That's my understanding." She looked at him but before she could meet his gaze he looked away.

"Do you love me?" He whispered and looked back at her. She nodded her head and he shot his head back to the window. He hated to see her so broken up about him, if only he could tell her the same.

"Baby?" He spoke up. She walked over to him but she already knew. "Yes?" She responded and tried not to cry. He looked at her and kissed her once more before sending her off. "I'm sorry."

She nodded and grabbed her jacket and left. He broke down in tears knowing he just shut out and let go of the one anchor keeping him alive. He watched her walk to her car and when she got in she broke down at the wheel. Oh, he wanted so bad to go down and take her back, but he couldn't. She started the car and drove off and he continued to sob. He just screwed up.

She ran up to the unconscious body that she saw get beaten down, and she kneeled over the body. "Dally-" She said breathlessly. She started to cry, she thought he was dead. She still terribly loved him, and she was sitting over his dead body.

But, he lifted his head and she stopped crying and he smiled at her sight. "Couldn't stay away from me huh?" He said weakly and she started to laugh of relief. He laid his head back down and she helped him up to her car.

While on the drive to the Curtis's, she looked over at him and he was relaxed but beaten pretty bad, she felt the air drain from her lungs as she saw him and she pulled over she grabbed his hand and kissed it and he opened his eyes and looked at her. "Even after all this time I never stopped loving you." She whispered and he gave her a look. She was horrified what it meant, had she just messed up?

"I should have never let you go." He said and she looked down and kept her fingers between his. He closed his fingers around her hand and she looked at him and he felt the butterflies again. "Please... come back." He said before passing out. She felt her breath hitch and she continued to drive to the house and once she arrived, she yelled for help.

Darry and Sodapop helped her clean him up and she fell asleep in the armchair while he was on the couch. She woke up in the morning snuggling somebody in the armchair and found him passed out holding her while she was on his lap. She smiled at him and she heard him say something in his sleep. "Y/n," He said like it was a cry. "I love you." He whispered and she closed her eyes and fell asleep on him.
