"Hurry up I'm bored!" Dally whispered from outside my bedroom window while I was changing. I opened the window and he grinned.

I grabbed my bag as he pulled me out of the window. We fell to the ground in each other's arms and we started to run, just in case my dad was home.

We ran out of there and went to our favorite place, the bridge over the river. He climbed to the top and sat down and looked at me. "I'm not going up there!" I called up and he laughed at me. "Whatever, pussy." He stood up and I got really nervous.

"Dal get down! You could get hurt!" I yelled and he pretended to step off the edge. "Seriously!" He pretended to step again and my worse nightmare happened. He fell and I ran down and I dove into the water. I found him and I pulled him. He seemed unconscious and I dragged him to the edge of the water.

I panicked and started mouth-to-mouth, until I felt his arms wrap around me and kiss me. I pushed him back into the water and he started to laugh. He grabbed me and pulled me into the water and I started to laugh too.

I let him kiss me and he pulled away and smiled at me. "You're an asshole." I said and he chuckled. "You love it."

I started to swim back to the land when I hit something. I couldn't really see what it was but I focused and noticed a face. I looked a little harder and noticed it was a body and I started to freak out. I screamed bloody murder and Dallas got to me quickly.

I stood up and I kept looking at the sad figure I just bumped into. His eyes were open and he looked like he had been crying. He hadn't been there long.

Dally put a protective arm around me and put his hand over my eyes and spun me around and brought me to where we couldn't see him anymore. He sat me down and I started to shake, and not from the cold.

I looked at him and he looked sad, and scared. "A dead body." He whispered and looked down. "Man you shouldn't have seen that."

"You shouldn't have either!" I said and I wrapped my arms around myself. "Doll, I've seen five of my friends murdered in New York. I've seen it too many times, but you, you could've gone your entire life wondering what one even looks like." He wrapped his arms around me and I looked up at him.

"Who is he?" I asked, knowing he didn't know either. "I dunno. We should get outta here." He said in a low voice.

"We should report it!" I exclaimed and pulled away from him. "No- that's stupid!" He said and he stood up.

"Why? We weren't the ones who killed him!" I stood up and he looked around. "Yeah but they'll frame me because I just happened to stroll upon a dead body with a police record the length of Main Street!" He whisper yelled at me. I crossed my arms and I sighed.

"Then let's fucking leave." I said and I stormed off. I walked all the way to the Curtis's house, they'd know what to do.

Dally was 10 feet behind me the entire time. We were both soaked and freezing and shivering, and confused on what to do. We were scared to fight again and we were scared to think about it.

We walked inside and everybody was in there and Sodapop looked us up and down. "What the hell happened to you guys?" He said after everybody stared at us.

"Where's uh- where's Darry." Dally asked and I looked at my boyfriend. He looked back at me and we made quick eye contact before snapping our focus back to Darry.

"What's wrong?" Darry asked and I nodded toward the kitchen. We walked in there and Dally stood behind me. "Alright? We're here." Darry questioned.

"We were down at the river." I began and Dally put his hand out. "We found a dead body and we don't know what the hell to do."

Darry stood and processed everything. He looked us up and down, and looked into the living room. "Ponyboy- can y/n have some of your clothes? Dal, you still got some here?" He said.

"Yeah." He said and walked to the bathroom. "Yeah!" Pony called from the living room. He soon came back with a hoodie and some sweatpants. "Thanks Pone." I said and I walked into the bathroom with Dally.

"What are we supposed to do?" I asked and I imagined the body in my mind. It was terrible, the man was so sad and desperate. He wanted to be found. But why did I have to be the one who found him?

Once we got our clothes on, Dally slowly pulled me in and he hugged me. "I dunno baby, I just don't know." He whispered and I sighed. "We better get out before they think we're doing more." I said and he chuckled. He pulled me off and cupped my cheeks and I smiled at him. "Don't worry about it, I promise we'll be alright." He said and I nodded. I turned around and I opened the door and walked back to Darry with Dally right behind me.

"I say you call it in, y/n. You've got no record and you seem innocent enough to them to believe. Don't mention that Dallas was there, Ya hear kid? They'll frame him in the blink of an eye." Darry said as soon as we walked in. I hugged Dally's arm and nodded. "We know."

"You best get going." Darry said and I nodded and walked to the phone. I hesitated before dialing the number and an Officer picked up. "Tulsa Police Department." The man said.

"H- hi, I'm sorry for the late call but I- I found a body down by the bridge off Perry St." I said and I heard a pen click.

"What's your name?" The officer asked and I shifted uncomfortably. "Y/n Y/l/n." I replied. "Why were you down there?"

"I was swimming down there, I got bored and it's my favorite place. That's where I found him." I said and he cleared his throat. "Was anybody else with you?"

"No." I replied and I started to feel more comfortable. He asked me more questions about it like who the man was, what time I found him, etc. Finally, he let me go and I started to shake again.

"Doll, y/n, let's go back to my place." Dally said and put out his hand. I nodded and I grabbed it.

I straddled his lap once we got there and I rested my head on his shoulder while he hid his face in mine. "I'm alright." I whispered. "No you're not." He replied and hugged me tighter.

"I'll be alright." I said and looked at him. "It will all end soon, and we'll move on." He pulled me to kiss him and I kissed him ever-so lightly. It was so nice to feel his lips again. "Promise?" I said when we pulled apart.

"I promise you the world and more." He said and pushed hair behind my ear and I smiled.
